#3 Gary Knight – Broken Neck (-AG)
#10 Doug Bruce – Smashed Collar Bone (-ST)
Took the receive, scored up the side after the wrestle-goblin sack took a nice scatter and everything else worked to recover.

Put some players through on D and they were just barely in reach of the ball for the stun-sack and pickup. Recovered the counter-sack and scored a 2nd.

Blitz!, but I messed it up and snaked a dodge to clean up, touchback and they away up the other side. Sacked them again, but fumbled the clearing pass, and the magic elf secured it. Eldril snaked his support dodge and Doug Bruce paid the price of waiting to punt a scatter with the Apo fail. Stalled for 2-1 at the break.

Pitch invasion left us super-short, but Gary Knight on his feet on the line, who got the surprise sack and later TD as they forced a tricky play on us. 3-1, much better, back on the line Gary.

They tried again, us having a go with 8 players, but a series of big fails led to a rush and fumbled pass, which we punted for glory and Bruce's TD. 4-1.

Their Dodge numpty Brian, tried to off Gary, and the Apo tried too. We left Eldril as the threat to take the hit, which he did in style and they got their second for 4-2.

We could not 1-turn against that line, just not enough elfs left, but John Ashworth did offer a fitting suggestion to Aquinas about maybe making it easier next time!

What a game. Cheers, Redgum. Just so cruel on the Apos. Orcs next, they can have three Journeymen on the line, and I may get some inducements. I may need them too! Heh.

In a lot of ways, I got elfed, but that only happened because a) I was too lax at protecting the ball-carrier deep in my own back-field, and b) Tussock played well enough that even when I had the numbers advantage I never felt the ball was safe and there was always an elf out in space ready to make a break for the line.
I ended up doing a good amount of damage, but it was all late in the game when the scoreline was already decisively against me. If some of those earlier KOs had been BHs things could have been quite different and I reckon scoring 2 TDs shows that I was capable going forward, just came up against a coach who was good and creating the turnover and taking advantage when he did.
John Ashworth would be wise to retire, because dropping that T16 foul just made Pythagoras angry, and Gary Knight is a good example of what can happen when you make this Pact team angry.
