“First match of the FUMBBL Cup! And what a match it was!

That's right, we had it all - we had Saurus out on turn 2, we had Saurus out on turn 3; we had fouls, we had blitzes, we had carnage!

We received first half, but with our flanking Saurus simply gone, our flank crumbled. We even lost the ball. Shindahl saved the day by rescuing the ball for an early touchdown, but it was very messy.

Then the Cowboys receive, move up the pitch.. and leave a path! We take it! And Shindahl dives in once again to hand the ball away, and this time we can stall to turn 8 - 2-0 at the half time!

But, we're still down our big guys, and it shows. Blitz! But the Cowboys still manage to get the ball - agi 5 passing is pretty reliable - and march up the field.. and again leave a path to the ball! But the bounce lands in (yet another) Str 4 Blitzer's hands, and this time (partially due to a double skull fail loner by our krox), we can't get him down. Touchdown, 2-1. Shrieking Bloodstorm have the ball again. We move forward into scoring with a solid cage around the ball. Cowboys blitz off a corner and make it difficult for us. And then.. we quad skull. QUAD! Boo. The Cowboys immediately capitalize, take down the rest of the cage, take down the ball carrier, agi 5 the ball and pass it, elven dodging, badda bing badda boom, blitzer in scoring range. One last chance, we put Shindahl on the ball carrier, and double GFI Ziaslees for a 2 die blit... snake eye on the GFI! But no re-rolls for the Cowboys, and he is forced to make a single GFI to score.. no luck, 2-2 on turn 8.

Ok. One turn attempt. 3 sidesteppers on the LoS, but there's a lineman 1 square back. And cheering fans give us a re-roll! We'll do it. Shindahl, time to show your magic! We use the re-roll to NOT take down the lineman on the first hit. We then push him into Shindahl, who sidesteps out. Then we 3die the lineman into Shindahl again. Then we.. fail to knockdown the lineman. Then we grab push the sidestepper into Shindahl, but we can't knock HIM down either. So now there are two dark elves still covering Shindahl, and there are 9 squares between Shindahl and the ball.. but Slisle still needs to pick the durned thing up, so he can't even hand off! Why didn't we hand off the ball to Shindahl at the very start, no GFI's, only one dark elf on him? 5, 6, 6, 5, 6, boom! ONE TURN TOUCHDOWN TO SAVE THE DAY!
