#7 Rojesterman Farris – Smashed Hand (MNG)
Match 3 - Season 34
Smack 9 match.

This was just a match of positioning and dice. Hawaii did everything they could to keep Oregon in front of them, but in the middle of the 1st, and fumbled pass put the pressure into the Oregon backfield. It looked like they had a way out, but then dice... Hawaii looked like they could easily capitalize, and then dice.... Just then, a 5+ pass was completed by Oregon on t8, and the final GFI for the score? Dice...

The second half started with no score. The block dice for Hawaii were still rough, as they couldn't use a RR because Zach Daniel couldn't get his hands on the simple hand-off from Noa. The play stalled in Hawaii's backfield, but Daniel decided that this was where he was gonna finally show up. He picked up the ball in 2 TZs, and heaved it on a 4+, which turned out to be inaccurate, but Noa managed to have it bounce to him.

Noa scrambled to the goal line, but the "Hawaii Rules" wouldn't allow him to score. He had to wait for some help to come down the field, and just try to have his teammates screen off whomever they could.

The ball was thrown up to Kalen Hicks, who took a 2d block to the face, and the ball wound up on the ground in front of 1 Catcher.

Noa blitzed off the Catcher, and Daniel came along to throw a TD pass to Mekel Ealy, earning him enough points to pick up Dodge.

The defense tried to hold after scoring on t5, but with a DP in scoring range AND a Catcher in the end zone, the Oregon thrower failed a gfi, and stunned himself.

Instead of choosing to play defense and hope Kryten couldn't pull off any .... well.... Kryten stuff, Hawaii chose to make a play for the fumbled ball. They set up as much of a loose screen as they could, and the ball was thrown to Jeremiah Pritchard, a Blodge/SS Blitzer, and Hawaii hoped for the best.

The blitz came. Three 3+ dodges through TZ's, but the 1d block turned up a POW. The sidestep, however, was huge, as it put the ball along the sideline, next to Kumoku Noa. An Oregon lineman tried to be a super-hero, and dodged and GFI'ed twice to get to the ball, but it cost him a RR. He then reared back, and tried to heave, but Noa reached up, and pulled down an INT.

This game was really good. I feel like I did as much as I really could in this game, and Kryten is a top-level coach. I'll be sure to go back and study this to see if I could have played things any differently, but this was a much-needed 1st win on the season for Hawaii. Now 1-1-1.
