“Two debutant teams faced each other. Our uneasy alliance against a bunch of Undead. But the crowd were interested to see us. +2 fame and we soon had the benefit of cheering, crazy fans!

Instead of playing safe as I should have I took the option of facing up players with the Mummies on the LOS. Risky with these loners! And so it proved as our ogre went down with a clash of heads with their mummy. At least our thrower had picked up. We were still disorganised and a Wight blitzed the ball free, but "Dwarf Captain" Golit caught it! He handed off to the catcher and "The Hermit" badly hurt the Wight. Our Human Blitzer "Captain Animos" then tripped up. As punishment a zombie and a ghoul ambled over to foul him. A devastating kick to the hip. Not only that but our inept apo finished him off for some unknown reason, and Animos became a zombie!

Despite this horror we got it together and Justin "The Haughty" Jones went off for a TD, after a brief stall. But just before he took the last step Golit had his collar bone smashed by a mummy! Truly incredible. Both our self proclaimed captain Blitzers were gone in our first ever drive! Questions of team retirement already abound. But we took the 1-0 lead.

We now have both halflings on the pitch. Our fans then did a number on the Undead in a pitch invasion. A zombie caught the ball but failed a handoff. Our thrower eventually claimed the ball after we covered it, but too late to score again.

After a 2nd half riot a Ghoul picks up and a human lino is KO'd. But the Slayer and co keep up the pressure. Not enough to stop them, and after more KOs suffered we concede a TD.

Then our fans invaded the pitch again! Our thrower taken down, but also 4 of their players. Some of our players advance while our catcher goes back and fumbles. But we still have time for the thrower to recover and hand off to him. Jones is left exposed, but our former captain Animos starts his zombie career by using a rr on a gfi. Then their blitzing ghoul double skulls against the catcher! Jones makes his gfi for a remarkable winner!

We earn good winnings but 10k short of replacing the first (human) of the blitzers. Will be a mess of a team next match, with Halflings lining up. But after his winning display Catcher "Haughty" Jones shows more strength!”
