As Stikki described this was an nostalgic elfbowl game for old faction coaches;-) I started with a miscounting mistake making it possible to get the DT Catcher on my thrower leaving me with 0:1 in offense. From that on all went in my favour. I got a shot on the St4 WD and injured him leaving Stikki outnumbered and without a WD for the rest of the game. It was a nice game though, looking for our next meetup with hopefully more even dices.

This was a fun game, and a welcome return to playing against Melmoth. The last time we played was almost 15 years ago, back in the wonderful days of Faction (for those of you who remember that far back).

I was here for one single purpose, which was to train up the new thrower. With most of my team still recovering from the previous game, I was in no real shape to offer up much in the way of a challenge - unless things got really lucky, which they didn't.

So straight away, I got off to a flying start with a couple of quick passes - it was sunny, so long bombs were out of the question with a rookie thrower - and a score in turn 2.

And from that point on, it was really all Melmoth, as his dark elves dominated. The witch elf, Rora Bonetaker, was particularly effective, only collecting one cas, but causing nearly all of my subsequent drives to fail by dealing with the downfield receivers. Well, all the drives I didn't end myself with some unlucky dice.

The dark elves evened the score just as quickly, and then disaster struck (for me, anyway). The weather changed to sweltering heat, and my thrower failed three of the five rolls, meaning he just couldn't get in his sixth pass for the skill-up. Still, he made the most of his limited time on the field by racking up 5 for 28, which I think is pretty good considering his lack of skills, his lack of field time and the sun.

But this was a side issue. The real affair was a very one-sided one, with me losing three players to BH early on and then being in no position to stop the ark elf assault. Thankfully, Melmoth scored quickly and regularly, giving me plenty of offence time, but with one of the catchers covering for the missing thrower, there was only ever going to be one downfield target, and Rora was always there to deal with him.

I don't care. It was a fast and fun game and for once the apo didn't fail. Well, to tell the truth, the apo wasn't used. Nor was the back-up I took with the inducement cash, but I don't regret the decision. There wasn't much else to spend the cash on and I do love my pixels!

And no MVP for the thrower either, so he goes into the next game still as a rookie. But at least he's got the rest of the team back around him, and now three of my four catchers are MA9, which is rather nice. But my TR is massive again, so I guess it'll be a bit of a tough time ahead until I can get the passing game back up to speed.

Still, if the next few games are as much fun as this one, I really won't mind.
