I don't know what's going on at the moment, but in the past few games, both coaches have rolled a whole pile of double skulls. Random, obviously, but frustrating, nonetheless. Today Swampserpent got the worst of it, ending two turns in a row with failed blocks, and although it didn't stop him scoring, it slowed him down enough that he went into the half 2-1 down.

A quick snap let me score on turn 1, then some poor dice on Swampserpent's part let me get my catchers down to the ball and get in a second score on turn 3. Then came the longer drive, with the failed blocks, so that even though Swampserpent did score, there was only one turn each remaining. My carefully set up one-turn attempt was probably doomed to failure as the front line of defence was all side-steppers, but the chance was stolen from me anyway with a perfect defence. So ended the half.

We traded scores in the second half, leaving the most likely result a draw, but then I rolled a blitz on the kick-off, got the ball, lost it again, but managed to get rid of all the possible passing targets, forcing the high elves to run it up the side. Even so, some nifty dodging from one of the blitzers left him in range to score, and in the end it all came down to more bad dice on Swampserpent's part, failing two 2+ in a row and leaving the ball-carrier exposed and with me in range of the endzone.

So a 4-2 win was about two dice-rolls away from being a 3-3 draw and I really can't take any credit for at least two of my scores (the quick snap to start and the final one).

I just managed to scrape past my 20 yards per game lower passing limit, and Lowangle made it to his second skill which is a relief, so maybe now he won't be such a reroll magnet. I'm still not trying many long bombs though. I've become so used to making them on a 2+ that it just seems too much of a risk for now. Having said that, I did try one to end the half here, but perhaps unsurprisingly it failed.

So back up to full strength now, with the glass cannon wardancer back from the hospital. At AV6 he's not going to last long, so no more apothecaries for him. And I can even afford to replace him already!
