#9 Juliette Barbo – Seriously Hurt (MNG)
Last game of the season for my dwarves. Ive been on a very long run of really bad dice. But lets take what we can from it.

Set up on defense. Opp deployed zones and moved a few in the backfield. Ive learned to let a few in the backfield early because I dont care about potential receivers early on. IN fact, I would love for my opp to toss a bomb and score early on T2. But in this case, I was generall able to use the guard to knock out a str4 piece and tie a few other things up. I even had a sack on the carrier and picked up the ball. BUT, opps 6th block, he injures the runner and picks up the ball. I sack the carrier again and the toss goes in my backfield pretty deep. I spend the rest of the half trying to hold off the score with sitting on the ball and a few blocks. I used a wiz to zap because without RRs, I didnt want to chance failing taking out his carrier on a block.

I liked my opps move in the end where he had the one beastman be a target of a pass. I was so fixated on hitting the other guy out of range that didnt occur to me. I didnt lose oout on that because beastmen cant reliably pass. But he had chance.

Down 2 players and opp has a full bench in the second half in spite of doubling my opps blocks with a plethora of guard, MB, and block. And honestly this is the biggest difference in the game. If my hits dont stun like they should at average and im down players, I just get out positioned because its a slow team. I managed to hold up until T6, but by then I think I lost another dwarf? Im not sure. As far as IM concerned, his team had the MB.

With the 2 sacks in the beginning and the wild toss in from the crowd, this is a pretty big let down for a result.

As a disclaimer, I always explore the dice. I have to because its a dice game and dice are a part of it. The point is to make sure, especially in losses this one-sided, that I dont over-correct.

I had 71 blocks with dwarves with MB versus chaos with 48 blocks, and I only rolled 4 more injury results than my opp.

5 1s in 18 single die vs opps 3 1s in 35 single die - which leads to better rushes and better AV breaks.

This is I think my 5th game in a row where my opps just out-dice me out the wazoo. But we remove the frustration and keep playing and learning. At some point, my fortune will turn around again. But I wont know if I stop trying and stop learning.
