1. Failed Cage Drive 1
My first drive was progressing decently well, and with the movement 7 of the fox and the stunty dodge, I was starting to see a route we score on, but I started to be cautious of exposing players to stab blitzers after we lost 3 players on the first 3 blitzes, so I tried to position in a way that may have limited the exposure to the blitz. This was foolish, I should've just stuck to the normal cage and been content knowing that that stab blitz was going to happen regardless of what I did. This meant that the last corner of the cage had to dodge away and we ended up being 0/6 on dodges this go around. Once the cage was compromised we were too exposed and heavily outmatched in a wild scrum for the ball, especially down the numbers.
2. Morg Targeting
Tricky playing with Morg for the first time. He had one removal throughout the match, and was almost always my blitzer. His one removal was a lineman, and that may be the telling part of this. With 6/11 being essentially blodgers, it became very difficult to find a target that wasn't a blodger for blitzes, and even with 3Ds we couldn't consistently win those hits. Given there was only 11 players, a very clear effort to target the non-blodgers would've been more effective.
3. Stab vs. Stunties
Interesting because I've almost always felt that stab was often a wasted skill, but against stunties it is devastating. Combined with the movement and agility of the elves it became very clear that my opponent was going to be able to remove a player a turn essentially, and none of the wrestle/dodge mattered one bit. Also very difficult to position in any way that prevents the stab. There are ways to make hits 1Ds, but stab doesn't care about any of that.
4. Stunty Defense Down Players
Not much to work with here, jump up started to come into play as a potential out in some scenarios, but in general, just very difficult without the numbers at least being equal. Trees and Morg not doing much in a removal game, so just felt like there weren't many great outs. Need to look into this and see if there are better defensive tactics. ”
