Once again, we met the CHAPs for the first round.
The exiled warriors of Infernius still remembered our last match, a tough 2-0 loss, and were excited for revenge.
We won the toss and sent two skeletons out on the first blocks. Aghond, Bringer of Death, had his eyes on a tomb guardian and tried to blitz him but against the odds, Heqet the Chosen held our bloodthirster off.
While Aghond, Bringer of Death, was isolated from the Legion warriors, the Numas tried to team up against him, blocking and fouling him for several turns. Aghond, Bringer of Death (yes i have to say the full name each time) held superbly while the rest of the team advanced on the other side of the pitch.
Unfortunately, without the help of our best warrior, the repositioning of the Numas was fast and dangerous. Ingeprix had the ball and managed a critical jump to score on turn 4.
Unfortunately, no lasting damage was done on the skeletons and the dervishes had plenty of time to even up the score. They went for the left side immediately, and the Numa star, Abubakar Ptahdaa, managed to go past the line of defence with his brute strength.
He was almost out of reach already. But the Legion warriors were determined and with several dodges and rushes, we had a two die blitz on the ball. But once again, Ingugan the fast let us down when we needed him.
This good return still forced the dervish to score, leaving us two turns to score again.
The kick was bad, Vucius let the ball slip towards the fans who threw it in the middle of the pitch, in Numa's territory. Aghond, Bringer of Death, gave us hope with an insane rebound but in the end, Ingugan didn't manage to catch the ball and it was 1-1 at half time.
Worth mentionning : for the first time, someone actually hurt our proud bloodthirster : Nesheb Djahor fouled him into a BH. Of course Aghond, Bringer of Death, regenerated, but still. We shall remember the bedouin who hurt our star.
For the second half, the CHAPs did the same strategy for their offence. They picked a side and tried to push through with their guards and tomb guardians.
The Legion held okay for a few turns, until the Numas gave us the opportunity to strike back.
They had the advantage but the line was somehow holding and Ingeprix was left standing next to their ball carrier.
With another set of good dodges and a good blitz from Elaraz, the sack was set up and the ball was set free !
The rebound went our way once again, and in an unbelievable turn of events, we stole the ball and secured it.
Buldaot had the ball and tried to run through. His next turns were only running and dodging between skeletons with the dervishes following closely.
Unfortunately, the Legion warriors couldn't follow him. Left alone, his run ended by Abubakar's hand. He took the ball back and gave it to a bedouin in range to give his team the win.
The Legion warriors are proud of their resilience in this match. We almost won and in the end, the fight was good and the blood flowed, just as Khorne intended.
