The coach, aware that the Rats could easily score with time to spare, kept the ball safe in Skyler's hands until the signal was given to score. Both sides grew restless, with a few elbows and kicks thrown at prone players. Larry took a nasty (but completely accidental) kick to the ribs, but the doc patched him up for the second half.

As predicted, the Rats used their speed in the second half to pull the Ogres all over the field and raced up to score fairly early on. The game was now on, with both sides eager for the win. The Ogres received the ball but struggled to pick it up. Sensing victory, the Rats pounced, grabbing the ball just five yards from the Ogres' end zone. The home crowd began singing "Don't Ever Give Up," and it seemed Nuffle was listening. A block freed the ball, and from that moment, everything changed. Impossible pickups, dodges, and handovers followed, culminating in the dying seconds as Cortes was launched through the air from the half way line, ball in hand, to score and win it for the Ogres. What a fun game!”
