A tie that feels like a loss....
A classic case of the luck meter not reflecting what happened in the game.
Here are a few highlights:
After kicking off during some pouring rain in the first half, the humans cage the ball and after some manuevering I manage to get in and free it up. I can't pass it downfield successfully however, so he gets a tacklezone on the ball. It ends up in my throwers hands, and he 1 die blocks to free it up (no great feat, my thrower has neither block nor dodge.)
My opponent then dodges on a 4, dodges on a 3, picks up the ball on a 5 ...all with no reroll. He throws it downfield but the pass scatters.
I make a few blocks, then pick up the ball on a 3, throw it to my blitzer on a 2, but he drops it on a 3 re-rolled. It manages to scatter into my thrower's hands, who catches it but has already stood up this turn.
I have no rerolls left, and it is now the final turn of the half...my thrower GFI's for the TD with predictable results..flat on his face. At least he doesn't die ;-)
Half ends 0-0
The second half begins with me receiving and an excellent change of weather...no more rain!
I manuever in the first turn and have an easy score set up in the second. I need a blitz to free my thrower, then a quick pass (2+ with re-roll), then a catch on a 2+ with team re-roll available and an easy stroll into the endzone.
Of course the catch results in snake-eyes.
My opponent cages the ball again, but I have him bottled up pretty well.
No problem...he dodges his thrower away on a 3+, throws a Long Bomb on a 5+ (with re-roll for pass) and catches it on a 3+ with catch.
I blitz and get the ball back on a 2 die block with strip ball...and pick it up with my blitzer. Unfortunately I can't screen him very well...and must allow my opponent a 1 die block. Which is of course a POW! Followed by a successful ball pick up on a 3+ and a GFI...all with no reroll needed.
Score is now 1-0 humans.
I can't get decent blocks on the next kick-off, so it ends up taking me a few turns to score..game ends 1-1.
A tie that feels like a loss.
Ah well...some pretty good luck for my opponent and some crucial bad luck for me.
