The Athletic were comprehensively beaten. They deserved the beating although the game was pretty much set when they knocked the ball loose in the second turn, only to block it straight back into the hands of the remarkable Abraracouricix. This was directly preceded by Gosciny's Heroes only fumbled throw - Panoramix bouncing the ball off the back of Abraracourcix' head, and straight back into his own hands.

A simple two turn TD response brought the Dark Elves hope, but this was quickly dashed. Poor defending returned the defecit almost immediately, and Druchii's first (of many) dropped catches meant they ended the half 2-1 against.

The defining moment came during Druchii's first drive of the second half. 2-1 down and with the equaliser in sight, Athletic had a simple 2+/2+ pass/catch combo to draw level. Instead, the Heroes' fans' watched delightedly as Little Miss Darkness fumbled a catch in an unmarked position inches from the line. Then, they stared in disbelief as Panoramix dodged towards the ball, grabbed it right under the legs of Harald the Hateful and Miss Darkness, dodged out and passed it to Abrarcouricix who, naturally, leapt above the swathe of elves marking him, before scampering off to score.

The Athletic's rerolls slipped from the coach's fingers like hot coals - two used just to help Darius Longarm pick up the ball - whereas daberserker's sat in the corner, gathering dust, and gaining friends (three?) via the kick off rolls.

Another failed catch brought us to 4-1, whereupon the Athletic went for a face-saving late TD, eschewing the usual Little Miss Darkness/John the Injured route to give Marcus Darkblade a chance. Poor marking and fortunate blocking scuppered that plan, and with the ball loose the AG5 John the Injured failed his 2+ dodge, and Little Miss Darkness fell over on her GFI.

A last ditch double-tackle from the younger Witchelf, Little Miss Delirium, resulted in some counter-productive push-back/sidestep action, allowing Panoramix the chance to walk to the line and pass to hapless lineman Obelix for another score.

Even the Druchii fans had to salute Abraracouricix, scorer of four touchdowns and survivor of two three-dice blocks (all pushbacks, of course). Little Miss Darkness will long regret the sudden burst of sympathy that stopped her hurling the Gutter Runner into the crowd on the second turn.

Poor play and good opposition hurt the Dark Elves, but perhaps no more than what head coach The Mighty Ren has come to call "slippy fingers."
