“A really top-class match, and not at all what I expected.

I decided it was about time we played orcs, so off we went to find a tough one... and we found elfballers!

Falcone plays his orcs with as much style as most elf teams, and our drives often mirrored each others. His first was a two-turner, which took the Stars completely by surprise as they waited for the lumbering orcs to get into position, even as they reached the endzone. Our reply was equally quick, going off without a hitch with Afesol on the end of it.
Come the next drive, the heat was starting to play up, and both teams were depleted. The orcs tried to make it fast again, but Elan (not bhed for once) flew into the backfield and held up the throwers. By the time the ball got upfield the Stars were ready, and eventually forced it out of orcish hands for the rookie Kaluin to break out and score. Half-time 2-1.

Recieving in the second half we fancied our chances of putting it out of the orcs reach, and set off on a passing maneuver... abruptly interrupted by an interception! The orcs set off with their new possession, but were reluctant to play the ball. Instead they waited until their little chum Snotter caught up, and after a slight punch up he took it over the line for 2-2. It was getting late in the second half, and there'd been a few casualties, but the Stars still reckoned they could do it. Their runners set off in fine fashion once more, and the pass was on, run round the wing until it was point blank range. Unfortunately our thrower was off and his deputy blew it :( The orcs pulled it out of the bag still, two turns left and running down the center, even risking a pass wide to a blitzer. Eventually the gobbo tidied up. Full-time score, 2-3.

A really, really fun match, maybe the best I've had. I take my hat off (if I wore one I would) to Falcone, for earnestly playing a passing game with the orcs, and at no point reverting to caging or stalling. Could've gone either way, a draw would have been nice, but I don't begrudge the orcs their win for the unorthodox and noble effort :)”
