#11 Thud Boomer – Dead (RIP)
My first response to this game was simply ARGH!

It was well played and quite fun, with some luck and great playing LurkingGrue won this game the best way possible. He just plain out played the Assistants. They have gone on to training camp to try to get their spirits back up for their next game. Pity to our next opponent. We will take our problems out on them.

Very good game Grue, we will have to play again some time.

We got down and dirty (thanks in part to a bribe to the ref which kept our DP on the pitch) with Nurgle's boys and continued to pull off miracles for our Lord and Master the Everchanging One, this time defeating the undefeated Nurgle's Assistants (come to think of it, our last win was against a superior Nurgle team too, must be something to be said for clean living....)

The Nurglites elected to receive and, with their abundance of unnaturally agile players (and with the help of an unnaturally clumsy Bull Centaur....), managed to run in a quick TD (to say I forced the quick score would be, I think, overstating the facts). Less quickly we managed to march up one of the widezones, screening our ball carrier fairly effectively, although one annoying ag4 Beastman, Bleak, did manage to hit him twice and it was only DP Gutcluck's nimble hands that recovered the bouncing ball to allow our answering TD. It looked like that was probably the half but Injury Time allowed the Assistants a bit more time than we expected and they made good use of it, but we were able to knock down or screen the potential scorers and hold the tie.

The second half we received and began the slow grind up the pitch. I'd like to say I was doing a mid-field stall (and I was, sort of) but Tymless' defense didn't really allow us to move the ball anywhere safe quickly. It was here that the Nurglites fortunes really began to change as the Tzeentchians began removing players from the field with alarming alacrity. There was a KO and a Beastman who BH himself trying to dodge, and of course the RSC Chaos Warrior sent crowd surfing, but the true secret of our victory was Gutchluk the Hobgoblin (finally the MVP comittee recognizes a true star). Not only did this little gem score our first TD but he caused (through fouls) every single CAS we managed to score: he SI'd a Chaos Warrior, forcing the Nurglites to use their apothecary, BH an AG4 Beastman who was standing in the way to victory and killed the Assistant's Minotaur outright, removing some very annoying strength from the pitch. There were some tense moments when an AG4 beastman snuck around our defense and sacked our ball carrier but he ended up standing next to Namzu Chainforger, our guard, and the ball was quickly recovered and run in for the win.
