Unusually for a game involving the 'Saws, there was more good ball play than there was random scrapping. The Chainsaw took an early lead after blitzing the the home side's defence, stealing the ball, and fending off attempted cover for a comfortable touchdown.

The second half started in similar fashion with the away side smashing open the Fat Hats and setting up a what seemed to be a certain score. Just as the Fat Hats coach was tearing the last of his hair out watching the ball always bounce the way of the 'Saws, Coach Chainsaw got distracted by a female admirer and pointed the wrong way. This caused Sta'nac the troll to fall over in a mistaken attempt to follow the misdirection. He would spend the rest of the game sitting on the floor, mumbling, "But, boss, you told me to?"

The home team gathered the ball and swiftly moved downfield.

Fortunately for the Chainsaw, the best play of the game was yet to come.

From there it looked like the Fat Hats would rescue the game with an equaliser but new boy Ku Kana, in only his second game, had other plans. First he stole back to knock over the ball-carrying hobgoblin and throw the ball to relative safety. Then he caught up with play just as it looked like the Fat Hats were regaining momentum. In what can only be described as a moment of inspiration, Ku dodged a tackle and grabbed the ball from underneath the fingertips of a hobgoblin before lobbing a beautiful long pass downfield to blitzer Steam.

It was not a certain score yet as Steam was under the close attention of a defending Centaur. Still, he managed to poke out an arm and gather the ball before racing off to seal the game in style. It was the most spectacular Chainsaw touchdown scored to date and will take some beating in the future.”
