A game where we had to overcome out own ineptitude multiple times, but true to the heart of a champion, my boys delivered. Down to 11 rats at kickoff, made 10 via a dispute between the team's top two gutters as to who was team captain, we matched up numbers-wise with the 10 elves of the Crusaders. We had experience on our side, though not by much; this was the 98th game for the Crusaders, the 139th for the Masters. Both teams know what it takes to win, what it takes to get 'er done!

Game starts with the rats accepting, but a blitz by the elves very nearly screwed up our plans. In desperation one of our gutters rushed out all alone, bravely fending off the str 4 tackle witch charging him...well, ok, he got knocked over, but the ball took a very ratty bounce and landed in the opponent's endzone, out of reach of any elf but (barely) within reach of the rats! Score 1-0, Masters.

The elves counter with a ridiculously easy score of their own, tying the game in two quick turns 1-1.

After advancing the ball just behind our side of the LOS and fanning out every receiver rat we could manage, a non-tackle elf manages to POW our gutter, badly hurt him, and pickup the ball to start heading the other way! But he's not quick enough to escape Stiletto, our secret weapon deep-safety gutter, who tackles the offending elf to the ground, freeing up the ball to the rats. A failed elven dodge later, and we're able to waltz in the go-ahead score as the half expires, 2-1 Masters.

Analysis of the elven attack at halftime allows us to set up with a perfect defense, but to little avail...the elves still advance the ball to easy scoring range. But what's this? Another failed elven dodge has prevented them from completing the box around their ballelf! BOOM! Down comes the hammer known as Tonfa, but the free ball lands squarely in the hands of one of his twin str 4/agi 5 witches. Fortunately my RO decides he wants to play for a change, getting in the way and forcing the elves to dodge around the other way, passing for the score instead of running it in...until Shakar intercepts the pass! The rookie linerat Kama is sitting forgotten in elven territory, and it's a simple matter to get him the ball. Score 3-1, Masters.

By now the elves are getting desperate and arguing with each other, so much so that they aren't even paying attention to the kick, letting the rats jump the ball and catch the kick as it descends! His witch fails to knock over our ballrat, and after a quick chainpush he needs merely a 2+ dodge w/rr to paydirt...but Nuffle is laughing at both team's attempts to dodge, giving the ball back to the playing field. After changing hands several times, eventually our thrower takes it in for the final score of the match, 4-1 Masters.

Terrific game, Mr_QB, fun as always. Rematch at your leisure!
