Praise Nuffle, the underdogs pull if off again!?!

Just goes to show you, 50 points of TS can sure be evened out by the right handicaps!

Game started with several key developments for Slaughterhouse5000 – winning the coin toss, and 2 of the 3 most needed handicaps: Morely’s Revenge and I Am The Greatest. The only thing missing was It Wasn’t Me on some key player.

Things went well for Slaughterhouse most of the first half, though a failed gfi (1 RR 1) trying to get a beastman within scoring range before the clock ran down ended up garnering a touchdown at the last second for Khorne’s Fanclub. Score at halftime: 0-1. Khorne’s Fanclub receiving, KO’s still sleeping.

The Slaughterhouse side pretty much figured that was the ball game right there. With no real way to hope for breaking the inevitable Khorne cage, and outnumbered to boot, it looked like second half would be the massacre the game promised to be, with the Khorne’s Fanclub players running rampant on an ever dwindling number of Slaughterhouse on the pitch.

But a small miracle: the opposition couldn’t quite manage to take Slaughterhouse off the pitch. In fact, numerous double skulls by the Khorne side actually led to many a RR being burnt, often for little or no effect. This led to the desperate tactic of ‘surround the cage full of ST4 Guarders and pray’ actually working, and Buck recovered the ball! Not for long though, as a Blitzing beastman took him down. But in the end of the fierce melee that followed, Star Player Morg’n’Throg came up with the ball, and tore off towards the endzone at full clip, with the heartened Slaughterhouse team bravely holding up the opposition by subjecting themselves to brutal blocks…

Morg waited a moment to make sure the clock was running down, then scored the equalizer at the last moment to send the game into Overtime.

Overtime was a difficult thing for both teams. Slaughterhouse won the coin toss…but were unprepared for the sudden BLITZ! That Khorne’s Fanclub launched at them. With no RR left for either side, a first action turnover would likely be the end of the match. Gurn picked up the ball in the face of several beastmen who surrounded him hoping for a dropped ball…and pitched it to Morg again on the LOS.

A fight for the ball ensued, with a tight pack tangled up mid field. Slaughterhouse had the edge on raw ST, with their amped up troll and Morg, but their opponents team was littered with Guard, mostly nullifying that effect. Max Carnage took out the opposing star Chaos Warrior in a lucky block, and after a late turn turnover, Morg blitzed across the pitch with the ball. However, he became tied up in a pair of tacklezones, and on turn 7, desperately attempting to break him out, the first block for Slaughterhouse5000 came up: SKULL SKULL.

Disaster! Morg went down next turn…and HARD. Well, we knew he’d only be playing one match with us…though I don’t think he imagined the reason why would ultimately be a dirt nap! (hey…how come we can’t loot the hiring fee off of his corpse? He he)
The Khorne side failed to pick up the ball, leaving precious seconds to tie it up in tackle zones. Slaughterhouse got two beastmen on the ball, but both fell in turn 8, leaving it wide open. The AG 4 chaos warrior dodged, picked up the ball and launched it at the waiting AG 4 beastman for the win…but missed! Game over!

It all came down to a coin toss, and with Slaughterhouse5000 winning the first two (kickoff and OT kickoff) it was only fitting they should perform a coin toss hat trick and advance to the next round!

Another amazing game for the boys (and beast boys, uh, and troll-boy) of SlaughterHouse5000. Well played by Jolt, the constant double skulls and rather poor block dice in general second half and in OT really bailed my team out, and let them hold on just well enough to force the toss. Good luck with your chaos Jolt, hope they’ll be making an appearance in the Fumb
