“My first game coaching Dark Elves (in any edition!) and my first playing against Necros.

Chose to kick first on the principle that I have a better chance of blitzing and snatching the ball with 11 elves than I do later in the game. Unfortunately I underestimated Ghulam, who didn't give my elves any gaps, and protected the ball very well. I'm also used to faster elves than these (Wood).

Was lucky not to suffer anything worse than a BH, but by the second half was still down to 7 players. Then got Perfect Defence against me ... Again, Ghulam played very well, not letting any of my elves get anywhere near a scoring position - a good thing, since I did pull off an unexpected passing move, but this only created a half chance (or maybe an eighth chance!) which was soon closed down.

By the end I was happy to leave my players on the ground to avoid any more blocks! Still, the team has survived which is the main thing.

Necros made a nasty opposition for rookie Dark Elves, since they have: disposable linemen; positional players faster than your elves; players with block; and of course the fearsome werewolves. At least this side had no Flesh Golems. I look forward to playing a Necro side again with a more developed team in the future.”
