“This was a tough match. I caught two CAS in the first quarter. I'll miss Lo-Mai next game but my apoth was able to save Hyena-Swine from death.

My opponent had an interesting strategy. He is a very patient player. Instead of rushing forward to throw blocks during my posession, we patiently waited in the backfield with his reserves. I think this may have backfired on him a bit during my only 'serious' drive towards the EZ. Since he hung back until I got within scoring range, I chose not to engage myself except for the surgical blitz. I used what I will call the "Tubleweed" formation. It resembled my "Purina" formation but 'tumbled' over areas of resistance without engaging. This took me closer to the sideline but the results are what count.

After I score in the 2nd half, he receives again. I get Blitz and put some heat on the ball. His hobgoblin was kind of wandering around back there. Hyena-Swine runs back to get KO'd. Two CAS off the pitch and KO's... my team is dwindling. Montgomery manages to fail another "Go For It" like last game. At least this didn't lose me a TD. I run out of RRs quickly and just begin pushing people around. He finally gets some bad dice and finds himself in a tenuous position on his Turn 7. I try and exploit it but my few (VERY few) remaining players are in terrible position and Boarman just stopped yelling that turn. I can only get some 2dice he chooses dice on his ball handler. With no RR, doesn't work out. He clears a path, passes and then runs in the TD. Hard fought, to be certain.

He had really good luck. Plenty of straight up blocks, of which he only had to RR one. I thought I was watching an elf team, the way his Hobgoblins dodged everywhere without fail. He got some fortunate CAS in the 1st quarter that left me undermanned for the rest of the game. My dice weren't all that nice to me either.

I just hope he was sweating during those last few turns of the 2nd half as he tried to pull the win out. I don't think there's anything more I could have done with what I had. I guessed I could have attempted to stretch the rules of probability a bit thinner but I didn't have any RRs.

A great game. Nail-biting sweaty game. Just so happens I was on the losing side. <sigh>”
