American screenwriter and novelist. Trumbo's best-known works include the novel Johnny Got His Gun (1939) and the screenplays to Roman Holiday (1953) and The Brave One (1956). Trumbo is also known for his refusal to cooperate with the House Committee on Un-American Activities during their search for Communists, and his subsequent imprisonment and blacklisting.
