Basterdo the Greatful was once an every day joe, human bartender.

One day a man in a dark cloak with a strange half smiling mask on arrived at Basterdo's tavern demanding whisky. The Barman offered BAsterdo a deal - one pouch of gold for a bottle of whisky.


Basterdao inspected the pouch and found it to be full of gold - enough gold to buy a flock of sheep or, indeed, his tavern.

Basterdo was suspicious but accepted... Worst ccase scenario he was down a bottle of watered down whisky he figure...

But the stranger was true to his word and the gold was verified as real by the locals. Basterdo kept working his tavern but knew that he could retire now whenever he wanted.

A year later the stranger returned and offered Basterdo a new deal - if Basterdo looked after a chest of secrets and promised never to open it for a year, Basterdo would be granted a chest of gold.

Basterdo accepted but little did he know his chest of secrets contained a foul sorcerer whom the stranger had cast a spell of slumber upon. The stranger planned to sacrifice the sorcerer to his Gods at the four yearly festival of Slanesh but the sorcerer had other plans.

Escaping after months of struggle, he suprised Basterdo cleaning up mugs and transformed him into a beastman... The sorcerer, fancying himself as a wordsmith proclaimed "and for accepting that deal like such a great fool, I will make you eternally grateful to have been transformed - you will become a blood bowl player!"

Basterdo was then sold to a local blood bowl outfit - the lost crusade who quickly signed up Basterdo as another foolish beastman for the front line
