Adelmar is unusual in that he was not selected as part of the tithe, but his lover Felicitas (der Weint), was. Felicitas couldn't stop weeping for her lost love, and thus Herrin Seraphina decided to take Adelmar as a thrall too so that hey could be together. Unfortunately for Felicitas the capricious Seraphina then took a liking to Adelmar herself, and took him as a lover. He has remained a favoured thrall ever since, and is now being allowed to prove his metal on the pitch.
