Dylan Horton from Frisco High School was rated a -star recruit by ESPN and handed a 3-star grade by 247 Sports. After high school, Horton joined New Mexico.

After season's end Horton transferred to TCU where as a junior for the Horned Frogs in 2020 Horton played in 8 games and played 111 snaps for the Horned Frogs. He recorded just 4 tackles, 2 assists while making 4 stops. As a pass rusher, he produced 9 total pressures, which included 7 QB hurries, one QB hit, and one sack on the year.

In 2021 as a senior Horton logged playing time in 12 games and logged a total of 518 snaps for the Horned Frogs. He also added 37 tackles, 6 assists, and 29 stops. As a pass rusher, he tallied 21 total pressures, which included 13 QB hurries, 5 QB hits, and 3 sacks on the season.

In 2022 as a fifth year senior Horton logged playing time in 13 games and logged a total of 618 snaps for the Horned Frogs. He also added 26 tackles, 6 assists, and 26 stops. As a pass rusher, he tallied 41 total pressures, which included 32 QB hurries, 2 QB hits, and a solid 7 sacks on the season.
