He wanted to be able to see the opponents closing in before they were bashed away. Also, he especially liked it when he had the chance to lend a hand himself. Sadly, these admirable traits also became his undoing. He was left cut off from the rest of the team, the boots started stomping, and the rest, as they say, is history.
