Markov's story is a tragic one. His coach misclicked, causing him to dodge into 2 tackle zones at the start of a turn. Having to roll a 5+ for success, he tripped despite the use of a reroll. Upon hitting the ground face-first the humiliation was just too much for poor Markov: he gave up the will to live and well, died right there on the spot.
