Fernand was the second thrower to play for the Sabres since they turned pro, after their original thrower Jack N.Bauer was killed by werewolves. However, when they joined the Blackbox league, Fernand was on holiday, leaving the Sabres coaching staff casting around for a new thrower, and with a pile of unsold merchandise. Eventually, they employed a lookalike to stand in for Fernand on the pitch. Nobody knew his real name, but he turned out to be a perfectly good thrower. Unfortunately, his career ended in tragedy when he was pushed into the crowd by Amazons. The fans realised he was an impostor and tore him limb from limb.
