Shogdan suffers from a chronic condition, making him feel near-constant pain throughout his whole body. He is generally a cranky person, violently cruel and unforgiving, and has a nasty preference for torture - all as ways to relieve him of his own pain. For Shogdan, Borosia's philosophy provided him with enough enemies and victims to live out these nasty hobbies, which are his only way of dealing with his wrecked body.
