In the darkest cornes of every human mind float the dark fantasies about living out the lust, making contact with sinister powers and achieving eternal life without going to church on sundays. In some minds they lurch deeper than in others, in some minds they lurch right under the shiny surface and in some minds they trample around undisturbed in great big boots. But not many knows how to deal with the dark powers if first contacted. Some try to ignore them, satisfied with the knowledge of their existence, get a little more scared from watching zombie movies, start wondering why the new housemaid is afraid of mirrors, and otherwise lead their lifes further on without chances. Some try to communicate with them, making proposals like “If I promise to eat a virgin alive within the next four days, could you please make my neighbour burn in hell instantly?”, but mostly they get more than they ask for. Inviting the the beast into your house is never a good solution, and people who deal with the devil are often encountered in isolated houses completely insane or flayed to death. But some think they are smart. In many cases they actually ARE pretty smart, but it doesn’t help them in the end. They know that if you as much as whisper the number that comes after 665, you have to be in control. They draw pentagrams with blood, they cover the walls in dark velvet and mirror splinters, they buy candles in enormeous amounts and sleep all day. They tend to know everything about summoning demons, rising zombies and making amor for people that keep falling to bits. Getting more and more powerfull, they start reading books about old and forgotten crypts, buying old castles and signing life insurances for other people. And this is where Crowley enters the scene. Crowley is one of the three dukes of hell, the most modern of them, and in a free and bored minute, he got the brilliant idea of going into BloodBowl. Not that he needs money or power; a duke of hell has everything he could ever ask for in his eternal life, no, he just likes to see people smashing each others heads in the name of sports. Thus, when he spots a young and fresh necromancer, he simply shows up, dooms the man himself and takes his army of dead people. He brings them to his bootcamp in hell, and start learning them to fight. Unfortunately Crowley is not a very patient existence; he only trains the zombies and skeletons to make sure they know how to kick someone in the kidneys before he lets them enter the field. He doesn’t care if they die; sometimes they don’t care themselves and fight on, sometimes they just fade away to the place under hell, where the ghosts of their souls will float around forever. Noone really cares. Crowley knows that you need to win some games to stay in though, and he has dicovered that to win a battle you need strenght and speed. Therefore from time to time he hires a mummy from Radament, the ancient lich from Lut Gholein, and makes a ghoul or two of his own. Or steal another young human who thought it was a good idea to create a mummy or a wight. This is why there are not many necromancers left these days. |
