Following a chance discovery made by a Viper probe droid, Lord Vader's personal Death Squadron fleet deployed into the Hoth system, which turned out to be the main base of the Rebel Alliance.

<DIV ALIGN="left">Due to a breach of orders by Lord Vader's subordinates the Rebel's early-warning sensors detected the approaching Imperial fleet. The theater shield protecting Echo Base was activated, which precluded planned aerial bombardment of Rebel forces.

Lord Vader ordered General Veers to land beyond the range of the protective energy shield and begin a surface assault aimed at knocking out the Rebel's power generator to bring down the shield. Veers would command the ground assault on the generator and rebel positions.</td><td><DIV ALIGN="center"><img src="http://fumbbl.com/teams/190479.jpg">

<DIV ALIGN="left">The Imperial landing force, <i>Blizzard Force</i>, consisted of several battalions of cold-weather equipped Snowtroopers. This infantry force was carried aboard AT-AT transports, which in turn were supported by AT-PT, AT-ST and AT-AR walkers, and with Viper probe droids providing extra sensory-support.<DIV ALIGN="center">

<DIV ALIGN="left">Lord Vader personally led troopers of his elite 501st Legion into Echo Base, cutting down any who stood in his way. As Imperial troops breached the hangar bays the last Rebel ship Millennium Falcon was just able to escape.

Unbeknownst to the Rebels, one particular ship still had not left the base.

Its captain Dash Rendar; notorious smuggler, scoundrel and general profiteer, was not quite done yet.

The assault on Hoth was a crushing blow to the Rebel Alliance, and a strategically important victory for Vader. However, the core of Rebels managed to escape. Rumours circulated that the Emperor was so displeased with the Rebels escape that he ordered the execution of a number of the Imperial officers in charge of the Hoth assault, Admiral Ozzel being the most cited example.

Questioning the competence of the Hoth officers and troops, Emperor Palpatine has thrown them into the Blood Bowl circuit in the Outer Rims.
Troopers and droids showing ferocity and skill on the Blood Bowl pitch will receive pardons and re-enlistment into active duty.
Officers may redeem their names, but they will receive no forgiveness. The Emperor has no mercy for weak leadership.
