| Ebon Xanic, the decadent Vampire Lord of Graveshade, has authorized the formation of a Blood Bowl team. In addition to spreading the name and reputation of Graveshade around the world, the Black Bears have another mission: spreading vampirism throughout Orymm. The team is led by Ebon's lieutenant Veronika Nordhjal, and playing Blood Bowl is mostly a pretext for coming into towns and creating new vampires in service to Xanic. The team's emblem, the black bear, is a reference to the so-called "demon bears" of the forests surrounding Gravesend. (These bears are not literally demonic, they're just very large.) It's also a reference to Ebon himself. The Bears play in black uniforms of rich fabric, lined with bear fur -- a little impractical for Blood Bowl, but then again, Xanic was never one for practicality. |
