Roster [R] Necromantic Horror

The players of the Old Aldorf Blood Bowl team "Loverboys of Birdland" had a lot going for them. Their particular style of close physical contact and fast play had gained them a considerable following. Especially the Wayne brothers were fan favorites, with aggressive rushings and elegant ballplay luring the chaste women of Aldorf to the arena. The team's talented cheerleaders, The Birds, certainly did not diminish its popularity. It was a team in its prime. It was wealthy, succesfull and highly skilled. But most importantly, it was Nic's team.

Nic was a fairly average student at the Colleagues of Magic. His foster-uncle Maladrian had encouraged him to delve into the mysteries of Shysh, the wind of Death. This probably had something to do with Mal being a necromancer and all, but Nic didn't really care for it. None the less, he accepted his lot. At day, he went to college to stoop over dusty books, at night he helped his uncle dig up corpses. And most of the time, he felt miserably. All that dead and darkness was getting to him - he was an easygoing, happy-go-lucky kind of guy, and evil plots really didn't suit him. Even his name, Nicodemus, felt out of place, and once his friends started calling him Nic, he'd immideatly seized upon it. Nic had one passion, though. Watching his favorite team, the Loverboys of Birdland, every weekend somehow made the rest of the week bearable. He¨d even taking up a parttime job as a coroner at the temple of Moor to pay the exorbitant ticket prices. When Lil' or Bruce went rolling, Nic forgot all about corpses and ploys, and just enjoyed being there.

Then one fatefull night everything changed. Nic was working overtime at the temple. He was quite distressed, as he'd missed the season's top game - the Loverboys vs. The Feisty Furries, a team from distant Norse. The Loverboys had won a spectacular victory and were to celebrate at a the Goodtimes Glade, the hottest place in town - and everyone was invited. He was considering to leave early when a carriage arrived.

"You must help, young priest, a most tragic event has occurred!" the driver yelled as he jumped down.
"Sorry old chap, no priests around, everyone's gone for the celebration. There's just me..."
"A great evil has befallen us! The Furries sent their fan club, the Vile Wolves, to revenge them - and they've killed the entire Loverboys team! The entire town is in disorder! I've come with all the bits and pieces we could find, you need to get them blessed and buried ASAP, so we can have some closure. Oh, what woe!"

Nic was stupefied. The Loverboys of Birdland - HIS team - death? Oddly, instead of crying, he began to smile. Suddenly, all those boring days and disgusting nights seemed okay. They'd had a purpose. They'd prepared him for this moment.

"Do not worry, my good man, I shall attend to them at once...!"
