One day at the Naggarond Bazaar, coach Stuka came upon an interesting artifact. It was some sort of medal, but the salesman could not recall from where he got it. The coach brought it home to his deranged brother, a powerful but unreliable magician, who convinced the coach to let him use the medal in a special ritual. When the stars were aligned, the ritual began. The medal had been prepared and placed upon an altar, surrounded by runic inscriptions and strange objects. After five days and nights had passed, the ritual was finally a success. From another time and place, a group of men emerged, summoned by the power of the medal. The coach found out that they all had been awarded similar medals in one form or another, all because of their deeds. Their language, manners, and knowledge barely made sense to the coach, since they obviously came from a time where the things were far more advanced. With no real options except to go back to their eternal slumber, they accepted the proposal to play for the coach. His winning argument was the promise of opportunities for heroic deeds, honor, and glory. And also a trip back to whence they came, once they won him the money needed to finance such a journey (yeah right). |
