<i>Hailing from the depth of Karg Aeneth, a cavern city beneath vast mountains in Naggaroth, a labyrinth of streets and alleys, come the Covenant Hex.

The Covenant Hex was formed by Mariusz Hex, a druchii warrior, hand-picked to the fearsome Black Guard by the Witch King himself. The Covenant Hex was, initially, an inner-circle of warriors with the sole purpose of neutralizing political opponents that might dare to voice a different opinion regarding the ruling of the druchii race. There was none as good as the Covenant Hex at fullfilling this task.

Unfortunately, as time passed by, less and less tasks were assigned to the Covenant Hex, and finally, it was decided that the group had fullfiled its role in the political game. The Covenant Hex was dissolved and the members split up.

Mariusz Hex left for the Old World, where he walked the land, searching for a new meaning with his existance. For a short while, he fought side-by-side by a tribe of orcs and goblins as a mercenary, being used to hunt down key members of the other army. He was successful at doing this, to say the least, and blood ran like never before. However, as the tribe was subjugated by another orc tribe, Marisuz Hex left into the shadows to seek a new path.

Finally, after quite the time of aimless wandering, he had reached the northern wastes, and the first thing his eyes saw was a great dome of iron and steel, with sharp poles jutting out in every direction with heads displayed upon them like trophies. Without hesitation, Mariusz approached, and as he got closer, a guttural sound was heard from within, almost sounding like cheering. He approached, and he entered.

Mariusz Hex was surprised at what he saw, at first, but also equally intrigued: two teams commiting themselves to running with a ball-like object from one side of the dome to the next. It was two teams of beastmen playing, or rather, attempting to slaughter one-another, where one of the teams had clearly gained an upper-hand. His first reaction, Mariusz Hex's, was that they were playing without any style, without any grace, without, even, any thought behind it. So he went up to the field, and confidently stepped out into it.

At first, the cheering subsided, and an eerie silence spread through the dome. Then grunting, then mocking, then, again, cheering, as a beastman attempted to bull-rush him. Mariusz sidestepped and brought down his mighty fist across the chin of the beastman, and a loud sound of something breaking was heard. The beastman was knocked out cold. Again, silence. Then angry grunts. Then the crowd of beastmen rushed the field in a crazed frenzy. Mariusz fled for his life, for the first time ever.

But this did not disencourage him, but rather the opposit. The following next few months, Mariusz approached the dome, and initially, he was run off the field, until one day, he boldly walked onto the field and caught a kick-off, and then proceeded to score a touchdown singel-handedly.

This quickly brought the attention to him by the coaches of these beastmen team, and it took not long before he was hired as a freebooter in many of the teams, sometimes, even switching sides in the middle of the game, simply because he was paid more by the other coach.

Mariusz Hex quickly gained a star status, and life was sweet. Finally, he had once more found a place where he truly fitted in. But he was not entirely pleased with his situation. He shipped word back to Naggaroth, inviting the former member of the Covenant Hex. And they arrived, every single one of them. And so the Covenant Hex was united once more, but this time, for the purpose of playing blood bowl!
