How this lost team of Rugby players ended up on the blood bowl pitch is anyones guess...as is what they'll do next.

This team plays Rugby style, it's the only way they know !

In Rugby you can:
- never pass forwards (or handoff forwards)
- not (voluntarily) shepherd the ball carrier (ie. your team must where possible always be behind or lateral to the ball carrier)
- "kick" as in forward pass to an empty square, observing Rugby off-side rules (people who will play ball or man must be behind the kicker)...this is the only way the ball can be moved forwards if not carried or dropped
- not join the breakdown from the opponent's side
- not hit any opponent UNLESS they are
&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;(a) carrying the ball or,
&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;(b) ajudged part of a ruck or maul (which means they're adjacent to the ball, or adjacent to an opponent who is), or
&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;(c) in an offside position (basically in front of, but not lateral to, the ball) - hitting opposition players who are illegally screening the runner is the least you can do, just to knock the rules into them.
&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;(d) OR if the blocking player is holding the ball in which case they can hit anybody
- not "block" for your team-mates (outside of the above situations) which means that away from the breakdown the only way you can hit an opponent to break the line is by doing it with the ball carrier.

In general, a Rugby team trys to play with all of its players <span style="font-weight: bold">behind</span> the ball all the time.

Breakdowns can be set up in a number of ways:
- Your player can be shielded on both (laterally) sides by his teammates setting up a maul situation in which the ball carrier will be blocked and pushed backwards...very probably resulting in the ball possibly dropping to/near other of your players near the "maul" (which is an adequate simlation of the rugby equivalent)
- Your player may have made a line break and been blitzed in the clear and dropped the ball, which is more or less a loose ball or ruck situation depending on how many other players are about at the time.
