Due to the frequent cases of overpopulation within the twisted Skaven capital of Skavenblight, many clans had no choice but to send their warriors to attack both surface dwellers and fellow undergrounders in order to survive, even Clan Rigens. So it happens, an asteroid collided with the planet not far from Skavenblight and since all the other clans were off battling the Dwarves, it was time for Clan Rigens to send some of their members off to investigate and if possible, collect any precious warpstone which may be salvaged from the crash site. Not wanting to lose any of the more valuable players, only rookies were allowed to go in case of any unforseen unpleasantries.

The small band of Skaven which made it to the asteroid made an unexpected discovery. Among the shattered rocks and miniscule pickings of warpstone, they discovered the charred body of a human. Just as they were about to settle down for a well-earned snack, the eyelids of the human rose, followed by his head, and eventually, he stood up straight before them unharmed.

Terrified of the power emanating from this human, the Skaven did not dare attack, yet could not bring themselves to flee. In Queekish, the language of the Skaven, the human's dark and evil voice instructed them that The Horned Rat himself had chosen these players to form a new Blood Bowl team to play and fight for him. Not knowing why the Horned One has chosen a coach in this form, the players were at first doubtful, but this was quickly remedied after the human glared at one of them, causing his skin to melt and his agonising death. Their enthusiasm was greatly improved.

Condemned by the other clans as traitors, the Skreamers now live far from Skavenblight in a makeshift bloodbowl field, playing their ratty hearts out for a chance to prove that they are indeed favoured by the Horned Rat and to be accepted back amongst their kin. They will stop at nothing to reach this goal, which they believe with their full conviction... especially whenever they make eye contact with their new coach.
