Ji'nan Hopping Corpses

Once upon a time in Cathay, the Tilean merchant and amateur Blood Bowl coach Niccolo Di Giliostronomo made a fateful transaction: Intrigued by the rumours he had heard, he bought two farly unadorned wooden boxes, believed to contain unfathomable power but also unfathomable misery to the one who would be as foolish as to open them. The tales does not tell when he found the boxes, how much did he pay for them nor who did he buy them from, but all versions agree that he acquired them in the small town of Ji'nan.

Almost immediately after leaving the town at dusk, Di Giliostronomo's curiousity got the better of him and he pried the boxes open. They contained unfathomable power, that can not be argued. However, the greedy Tilean noticed, very much to his horror, that this power was actually possessed by two fearsome creatures of the night, the vampires Shi Feng and Liai Xhopsuiy, both very irate of getting sold to a plump foreigner.

As the two undead began slaughtering Di Giliostronomo's caravaners and other employees, the desperate merchant made a run for it. He did not get far, but it must be said that he tried. Caught and mere moments from getting a costly tour to the Underworld, Di Giliostronomo pleaded for his life. He offered riches. He offered might. He offered his and his employees' eternal servitude. All to no avail. Until, in desperation, he offered to teach the vampires the game of blood Bowl. Thus were born the Ji'nan Hopping Corpses.

(It must be said that, being a mere amateur coach, Di Giliostronomo's usefulness ran out with a fearsome speed. Some claim he - or rather, his rather exsanguinated corpse - was sold to a beginning undead team from Araby, but no-one is truly certain of which team it was.)
