Note - If the starting lineup looks oddly lacking in positionals, it is - compared to other modern teams. It was built under the LRB 4 rules, when FF had to be purchased as well - and 11 lino's was a perfectly legit start. Slowly building, one positional at a time.




~ Game 1 ~
3-1 Win vs Khemri
A genuine phyrric victory. 1 KIA, and 2 more 2 MNG (one -AV, the MVP!). Playing an opponent with 1 FF doesn't generate enough to replace elfs.

~ Game 2 ~
0-2 loss v vs. dwarves ((something germanic)
Fielding only 9 men from the start, was simply beaten up, including needless gang fouls at the end.


~ Game 3 ~
(First game in... how many years?!)
Win via Turn 4.2 concession vs. Humans (due to storm/electrical failure)
(Score at that time had DC winning, 1-0, and looking(?) in good shape.)

Didn't do too bad - some new rules caught me off-guard (enforced time - but I LIKE it!). Gotta up-tempo!

Opponent elected to kick, scored on basically undefended 2-turn passing play, then after Turn 2.2 kickoff broke basic cage & stripped ball loose at midfield and was threatening... something... probably a chaotic ruck... when concession came in. Shame. Totally borfed on SP management (placed wrong player back to pass) - but turned out ok w/ Mr. stone winning BOTH(!) MVP's for a 2nd skill (Block) to complement Strip Ball.

Even w/ concession, only 70k gate - apo, and 20k toward 2nd positional.


~ Game 4 ~
0-3 loss, vs D'elfs
TV was "equal" only because of my high Fan Factor (8 vs. his 3) - FF does not equal skills. Opposing coach was... dull. No comments, no nothing. He scored end of 1st half, went 5 (6?) turns without RR, and not a word about luck. Get a personality, rent to own.

Skilled up a blodger blitzer, and the -AV got DP, bought a new blitzer, Mr. Glove.


~ Game 5 ~
2-0 win vs. Lizards
Rain = dropped balls, plus lots of bad blocking dice by 6BMM - 6(?) double skulls out of 4 dozen blocks?! DC kicked, 6BMM failed the p/up (-1 for p/up & catch due to Rain), pushed into the backfield and forced a 6-turn ruck there over the ball, finally recovered and scored end of first half. 2nd half it was their turn to drop the ball on a greedy spp pass (Note: Don't DO that in the rain!), and the bounce went thru the hands of the screen to where 6BMM could mark it strongly with St4 Sauri. Fortunately(!) they were not as aggressive as they might have been - another ruck, this time they recovered - but only at Turn's end and with a marked skink on 1 corner of the cramped cage, who got blocked to open a blitz on the ball skink. With help from more early bad blocking dice by 6BMM, 2 nervous turns later the ball was knocked free, this time where DC could scoop and score, with luxury to hand off(!) to the new Blitzer with time and room to spare for the 3 spp score. No injuries to add to the insult, and, as both coaches had commented early in the game, that's win/win.

1 Lino got MPV => 6 spp, Mr Shoe is now a sidestepper - LoS center for him. Only +30k gate, re-rolling from 10k - good thing I won.

~ Game 6 ~
1-0 win v. Orcs

Coach no habla'd inglis, but jo habla poquito - started friendly enough, then he timed me out while we were trying to talk, and it became all business. And probly a good thing for me - started getting serious, playing smarter, better. Need that slap to game up, apparently.

Mr. Wall skilled up w/ doubles, new Guard. Only 40k gate, despite RR from 30k.

~ Game 7 ~
3-1 win v. Chaos Dwarfs

Elfball uber alles. Who needs to receive when you can 1d blitz, then scoop n' score?

Sloppy at first - same old mistakes - then sobered up. Progress?

2nd Blitzer skilled up to Blodge, and we buy our 3rd positional, Blitzer #3. And there was much rejoicing.

~ Game 8 ~
0-2 loss v. Chaos Pact


A light, friendly, beer-and-pretzels game that got a little out of hand. 3 RIP (one killed twice w/ apo), one MNG. Ouch.


~ Game 9 ~
1-1 tie v. Necro

If you want to save your team, take an additional apo - if you want to win, take an additional RR.

3rd blitzer skilled for blodge, but only 10 spp - one journeyman took the only Cas, and the other MVP. Hired him. Never get to full roster this way.

~ Game 10 ~
3-0 romp v. U-world
(RR'd a 1 to a 2 for 40k gate - still 40k short of 4th blitzer)
6 spp Blitzer got 3 TD's for 15 spp - the 3rd TD was odds-against. 13 spp Kicker KO'd early but MVP'd for Wrestle, fluff pass by 5 spp lino for 2nd Guard.

~ Game 11 ~
1-1 struggle v. Elfs

150 TV diff gave me a wiz, but an early snake forced its use to save the opening drive. Almost got a defensive score, but elfball prevailed for the tie. 5 Turn drive stalled when tried to get cute and block w/ no RR instead of just caging up - broke Rule 0... But 3 skills - Wrodger, +Ag rookie lino, and +St to Blodge Blitzer! Plus exactly enough for 4th Blitzer - it's a team again...

~ Game 12 ~
2-1 dance v. WElfs

Early morning game, still asleep, several bone-head mistakes - kicker out of position (twice!), mis-pushing targets so blitz was blocked, etc etc. But surprising cas v. AV 7 saved the day. Kicking off was wise - need another 2 ss'ers to stop OTS threat. Was able to stall/pass/re-position to skill target players, inc Guard (Block) and rookie Blitzer (Blodge), and set up SS'er (14 spp). Another heinous gate, 2 RR'd to 2, 40k total.


But "need" ~24 spp (and possibly more) to get team into competitive shape and protect doubles/+stat players...
o _2 SS'er -> Block (? - or Wrestle, and rely on Blitzers???)
o _4 Blitzer -> Blodgestepper
o _8 Guard -> Block
o 10 +Ag -> Dodge (then another 15 for Blodge or Sure Hands or Leap or something, and another 20(+!) for the other(s)!)
...plus...
o 5+6 - 2 Blitzers -> Blodgesteppers
o 16 WE (when acquired) - Block + SS
o 15 +St Blitzer -> Sure Hands


~ Game 13 ~
2-1 rabbit v. HElfs

With no Tackle (or Frenzy), Blodgers are a pain. And a DTss'er is doubly so. Then the coach started talking about PDX & RC, and I totally borfed - gave up the drive to go ahead 2-0 lead and almost lost the game. Meanwhile the dice and the Rain insisted on eating my RR's early and often. Only a T16 quad Push-by the defense followed by an Ag 5 pass in the rain saved the day.

Had a plan to get 3 skills - lucky to squeak 1 blodgestepper out of that mess. And he got MVP for 21, asshat. :P Even snaked the winnings rolls - sheesh.

~ Game 14 ~
2-1 cakewalk v. Humans

Another rainy game, so no passing for spp. Rookie coach, but 8 dice coulnd't bring down the (no-skill) ballcarrier), and then HMP fell right into the hands of a catcher for the score - that should have been mine. Extreme deep kick kept 2nd half to 1 score. Mr. Knife got +MA, Mr. Belt got close to ss. +50k = WE - it's a team.

~ Games 15-17 ~
~ 3 heartbreak ties ~

Unexpected bash and one dumb mistake were my undoing each time. Lost a position each game, 14 spp Blitzer RIP, new Witch RIP, and new Blitzer -MA, and only the first was due to bash skillz. Rewatch and don't do this again.

Skilled up a couple players, inc. lino Guard w/ another Doubles - Stand Firm?

~ Game 20 ~
3-0 dicing win over Slann, who had rubbed snake-bait on themselves (and also mis-labeled some players on both sides, which didn't help).

Game is interesting for T16, when DC scores TD #3 during the Defense's turn!
