One sunny day in the West, the Flinghell Bakery Company decided it was high time they expanded their business and open up a brand new store. The Company sent a crack team of Bakers/Explorers to find a new market, somewhere where no competition would bother them.

Hearing rumours of a lost civilisation the Explorers, led by Pasty Expert Oto O'Toast ventured into the away from the bustling metropolis and into the wilderness. Soon they found themselves in the ruins of an old city. Further exploration found the Halflings in the midst of a tumbledown stadium.

Rubbing his chin thoughtfully O'Toast heard a deep rumbbling west country voice, " 'Ello young 'un. 'Ow be thee?"

O'Toast looked up at the Tree and smiled, it was always nice to meet a polite piece of uncut furniture. For the next hour O'Toast, the rest of the Halflings and the a couple of Trees discussed the fortunes of the stadium...

Many, many years ago, the legendary big folk played here. It was a game called either The Beautiful Game or Football, although the Trees believed it was the latter because the standard of play was semi-professional at best, except when the Roving men of Brissle came to use the stadium for a while after being hounded out of their own City and that time when the Trees were saplings and the famous folks with the Livery of Pool played there.

This stadium with its cracked concrete terraces and rusted corrugated iron stands was called Twer'on Parrk and the black and white striped men who graced its lumpy, mud-laden were called Baff Ci'y. And so intrigued by this game and enamoured of the tales of a rusty caravan selling fetid meat pies, O'Toast asked the Treemen to show him this game.

Long and far the Treemen and O'Toast travelled until they had gone further afield than any Halfling had been, they travelled unto the shining mythical city of Brissle and discoved that over time the prissy game of Football had morphed into the ultra-violent sport of Blood Bowl and was played by monsters of legend that had plagued the nightmares of Halfling children for centuries.

Aghast at the blood, gore and lack of adequate catering facilities O'Toast returned home to tell his bosses that the new area for expansion was a bust. But along the way he thought and thought about the game. The violence, the killing, the many ways to make money! He had made up his mind...

O'Toast set about getting the hungriest and most violent Halflings he could find up together and even recruited the two Trees who had helped him so much. Taking sponsorship from the Company and using the repainted, repaired and reclaimed stadium as a home venue, O'Toast and his newly formed Bath City Bakery took to the world of Blood Bowl and awaited eagerly as tales of their famous Lardy Cakes filtered through the lands.
