Founded in Talabheim, brought together by the promise of fame, fortune, alcohol and most of all violence, the Talabheim Wolves provide weekly entertainment under the keen eyes of Head Coach Heinrich Mephiston. So far the Talabheim Stadium has held mixed fortunes for the team, with a very shaky start as three games were played, and three games were lost. Still, their solitary cheerleader soldiered on like the fine lass she is, and kept the fans loyal. Well... most of them! And with the last match lost, a spark of things to come appeared, with the Wolves scoring the first touchdown of their careers amidst carnage and confusion from an interesting play dreamt up by the Coach. What the fans found far more interesting and entertaining was the five-minute dance on the line the Coach enjoyed, leading to a few rather annoyed referees and one embarrassed Coach being led off the pitch back to the dugouts! Recently, there's been a new found air of optimism in the Wolves training grounds, with their first win! Recovering from their initial shock upon meeting their Lizardman opponents - Lineman Marcus Sturmfist was heard muttering "Ohhhhhhh cack." as a Kroxigor loomed over him - the Talabheim Wolves broke through the lines twice to walk away with the match, at a score of 2-0, and one dead Saurus. Coach Mephy, as he's come to be known, has made a tradition out of his initial over-reaction, and was seen dancing for all his worth on the touchline after both were scored, managing to avoid the bevy of referees heading his way! When pressed about it, he only grinned and replied "Well, the fans like it, and I like it, so why not? If my boys keep scoring, I'll keep dancing, count on it!" What does the future hold for the Talabheim Wolves? No-one can say, but it looks promising... ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Last Played Game! Talabheim Wolves VS Altdorf Allstars ------------------------------------------------------------------------ LIVE FROM ALTDORF MEGAPLEX! IT'S THE ALTDORF ALLSTARS VERSUS THE TALABHEIM WOLVES! "This is Mikhael Starnan and Joelann Fasche coming LIVE from the Altdorf Megaplex for this week's match, and it's the Wolves against the Allstars!" "That's right Joel, we're in the Imperial Capital for today's match, and we've brought the fans with us for another beautiful day in the Empire! This away match is certainly going to be entertaining, and could just provide the Altdorf Allstars with a little chance for payback!" "True Mike, last time the Wolves and the Allstars played each other, the Wolves walked away with the win at two goals to none, in the Wolves' first match against a Human team since joining the Open Division! Back then we were in Talabheim Stadium, but now we're in the Allstars' home ground, and we're commentating from the Commentators' Box to 31,000 baying fans!" "Yes, we may be only visitors, but as the Altdorf Allstars are currently without commentators, we've... occupied the Commentators' Box to give the fans something to yell about! Kick off is only a minute away, so let's greet the teams! And here they come! First up, it's the Altdorf Allstars! GET ON YOUR FEET SPORTS FANS!" "Blitzer and Captain Karl Epopn leading them out Mike, they look ready for a good tough match! There's the last of them, blocker Chunk, the Ogre's been a rock for the Allstars in previous games, giving them a strong punch just when they need it!" "Very true Joel, the Allstars beginning to setup, and HERE COME THE TALABHEIM WOLVES! With Sirikan Velin sadly not with us, it falls to Azzen Neuvolk of the Neuvolk Blitzers to lead them out! He's going to miss his brother Dannes there to back him up today! There's Vollen Einhart, he's looking in peak condition for this game, last week's injury's just a bad memory now. And last out as always is Shazzek Grotmusha! He's enjoying more luck these days, that's for sure! Coach Mephy is eying up that strong denfensive line from the Altdorf Allstars, he's ordering a nice spread line, he doesn't want anyone dodging their way through! "Well said Mike, the Wolves lost the pre-game coin toss and they're to kick! As usual Mike will be commentating for the Wolves, while iI'll be commentating for the Allstars. The ref's made his appearance, so let's get started! 5! 4! 3! 2! 1! *FEEEEEEEEP* M&J: LET'S PLAY BLOOD BOWL! J: There's the kick! It's high, and what's this? The Wolves are changing positions, looks like they were ready for this! The ball's coming down, it's a perfect defense now for the Allstars to break through! 'Handy' Andy goes for the ball, and WOOPS! He's fumbled, the ball bounces towards his scrummage line and now the Allstars are shook up, the Wolves can capitalise! M: And there they go Joel, they're tearing into the Allstars, and Vollen sees his opening! He races through, and he's got the ball! The Wolves' flanks are exposed, but Vollen's got a clear line to the touchline! J: The Allstars have noticed that though, and while their blockers hold the line, they're sending men back to take care of Vollen! BAM, there he goes, and so does the ball! Handy Andy takes possession, arcs back, and there's the pass! It's... good! Mike catches it, and look at him go! He's tearing down the flank! He's wide open, I don't think the Wolves can catch him! M: They're certainly gonna try Joel! The Wolves are carving up the Allstars' line, and there goes Xavier, followed by Tuomas Grener and Azzen Neuvolk, Azzen swings back and KRAK there goes Mike! The ball's loose, and Xavier reaches for it, OH, he's just missed! J: Mike's picking himself up though, and here comes Karl Epopn, he's struggling to get there, but he's just made it, and slams Xavier to the ground before he tries again, Xavier looks like he'll be down for a while! Mike's on his feet, and this time he gets the ball! He's past Tuomas and Azzen, and this time there's nothing the Wolves can do! TOUCHDOWN ALLSTARS! "A nice opening play by the Altdorf Allstars there Joel, and Coach Mephy can't be happy, he had a good chance at an early lead but it was snatched from him, and now the Allstars are the ones 1-0 up." "True Mike, play about to resume, and Mephy's ordered another of his infamous flank drives! He's going down the left this time!" *FEEEEEEEEP* M: There goes the ball! And... it's bad! It's bouncing pretty far, it just might, yes, it's a Touchback! Vollen takes the ball, and the Wolves are off! They're punching through the Allstars' weak flank and driving down there! Vollen's just keeping his head low for now! J: The Altdorf Allstars putting their all into getting to Vollen though, they're managing to close that flank down VERY efficiently! Vollen's looking a little worried down there! M: Yes, he's glancing at the Wolves dugout, I can just see Coach Mephy from here, he's ordering something special by the looks of it! Vollen's nodding, and the Wolves are clearing the way for him whatever he's up to! There he goes! He's moving out from the box, he hands the ball back to Kalle Obhenall, who immediately tears back... TOWARD HIS OWN LINE? What's going on? J: Don't know Mike, but it looks like something special! The Allstars struggle to get to grips with the play, they're keeping most of the Wolves at bay, but they aren't closing down Kalle! Vollen's picked up a few markers, but he's been known to do some very fine footwork when necessary! Down in the thick of it, seems Franz is getting annoyed with the tricks! He's taking his frustration out on Shazzek, but Shazzek isn't quite fair game! The ref's seen it, and calls Franz over. HE'S OFF, Franz is out of the match! And that rude gesture isn't going to help his case any! M: The Wolves seem to know what's up though, they're freeing up Vollen, and there's Kalle! But he's not passing like we thought! He's charging back into the thick of it, and THERE! He's handed off the ball to Vollen, and Vollen's ducked his way past the Allstars, he's clear for the equaliser! J: The Allstars rush to the defensive, but only Mike and Tanar can make it to Vollen, but they don't have the energy to take him down! Back at the fight, they're fighting hard, but it's pretty even! M: Vollen can see the goal though Joel, and he's not going to let the Allstars stop him! He easily dodges past Mike and Tanar's attempts, and dives over the line, TOUCHDOWN! IT'S THE EQUALISER! AND THERE'S COACH MEPHY! "Just look at him go Mike, I don't quite know where he gets the energy, but he's got it in spades! He's finishing up early though, he can see they might get another before the half ends. The two teams are setting up again, both using traditional setups. Wolves to kick!" *FEEEEEEEEP* J: There's the kick! But it's wild! It's bouncing allllll the way back to the Wolves! And it's out, Touchback Allstars! Handy Andy receives the ball, and he sweeps back for the pass! But it's bad! The Allstars can only groan in despair as the ball bounces over the Wolves line leaving it open for Kalle to snatch it up! M: And there he goes! He's got the ball, and the pass is good! Vollen catches, and he's waiting for the line to clear before making his break. Shazzek looking to start proceedings, but NO! He's made a bad mistake and takes both himself and his target to the ground! With Vollen milling about the Wolves' flank, it looks like scoring is out for this half! J: Yes Mike, and it looks like the Allstars know it too, they're laying into the Wolves and forgetting about Vollen! They're not having much luck though, the Wolves are being forced back but not down! And Karl's down! Looks like he messed up there, he's crawling down there. M: The Wolves capitalise and fight back, they're forcing the Allstars back in turn, but OH! There goes Mike of the Allstars, he'll feel that for a while! Medics are there, and it's a Knock Out! All that's left now is the halftime whistle! *FEEEEEEEEP* "And that's halftime! It's been a good game so far Joel, both teams are playing well and fighting hard, and aside from Franz' little misdemeanour, by the books. Right now the game could go either way! How'd things look from the dugouts?" ------------------------------------------------------------------------ "Well, I'm down by the Wolves dugout, and I'll have to agree with you, this game's been as even as they come! I'm down here with Azzen Neuvolk, Blitzer for the Talabheim Wolves and impromto Captain as Dannes Neuvolk and Sirikan Velin are incapacitated. Azzen, your thoughts so far?" "The game's been real good so far Joelann, the Altdorfers are giving us a pretty good fight so far. I'd say we're the better team though, if we just have a little more luck out there, especially Shazzek, I think we can grab a few more. Franz getting sent off really helps us too, that's one less Blitzer to watch out for." "Optimistic then? Have you been to see Dannes lately?" "Yes, my brother's fine, itching to get back into a match. That bump on the head's nothing, he's had worse. Siri though... damn, that's rough. I saw him when I went to see Dannes, they say he's alive, but I can't see it. I trust 'em though. Wake up soon Sirikan, we all want you back here, it ain't the same without you!" "Thanks for that Azzen, I'll let you get back on the field, half time is almost up! Tell Coach Mephy we said Hi!" "Will do!" ------------------------------------------------------------------------ "And you're back in the Commentators' Box with me Mikhael Starnan as we await the kick off for the second half! Joel with be with us momentarily, but let's get this game rolling! The Allstars opting for a safe setup, players covering all areas of their half, while the Wolves go for another of Mephy's special plays, they're forming a box around Vollen Einhart. This play, I should note, works as the Wolves are receiving the kick, if they weren't it would be leaving the flanks VERY exposed indeed! The referee's back on pitch, and we're ready to get going!" *FEEEEEEEEP* M: And there's the second half off to a start! It's a deep, deep kick by the Allstars, in fact it's TOO deep, Touchback! Coach Mephy must be counting his lucky stars, this is exactly what he wanted! Vollen receives the ball, and here we go! The boxes rumbles slowly forward, and the Allstars can only fall back as it comes through! A few are being knocked down, but mostly they're just retreating. And here comes Joel, just in time for their response! J: Thanks Mike, Azzen's optimistic about this half and it looks like he has good reason for it! The Allstars are deciding to fight fire with fire, and are swarming around that box, they can't do much though, just two Wolves down as initiative passes back to the Wolves! M: The train rolls ever onward as the Wolves press on, slamming more Allstars to the ground! Vollen finally sees his opening though, and he makes a break for it, leaving the box for a run at the end zone! Back at the box, and it's slowly spreading out. Marcus Sturmfist at the fore, and he's got a devilish glint in his eye, he's reaching back and BAM! Ouch, Karl Epopn is going to feel that tomorrow! He's helped off the pitch as he tries to staunch some of that bleeding! The Allstars will want some revenge for that, Joel! Er... Joel? J: Ahem, sorry, little too much blood there for my tastes! Yes, the Allstars are fighting back now, they're breaking away from the box and closing in on Vollen, he's looking pretty worried down there! The Allstars close in and - down he goes, and HARD! He's moving, but not much, Jess comes out... It's a Knock Out! Vollen's out of this drive! In comes 'Handy' Andy, he goes for the ball... and he fumbles! The ball bounces and comes to rest right under Chunk's nose, but I don't think the Ogre will want to go for that! M: If he doesn't, the Wolves will Joel! They're smashing their way through to that ball, and I wouldn't like to be an Allstar today! Two of them are down and not getting up without help, medics are checking them... DOUBLE Knock Out! The Allstars are going to miss Handy Andy down there! Azzen is making a break for the end line, he doesn't have the ball though! What's he up to? Kalle Obhenall also closing in, but he's got the ball in his sights, and just about manages to grab it from under Chunk's nose. He's lining up, Azzen's his target! So that's the Wolves' game! It's going to be tricky though! He makes the pass! Chunk and Mike try to snatch it out of the air, but come up short! Argh, Kalle had to compensate too much there, the ball's bad and Azzen can't get a finger to it! It's close though, there's a chance that Azzen can get it anyway! J: Without Andy the Allstars don't want to risk getting that ball, they'll settle for nailing anyone who gets near it! While players move into position, the majority of the Allstars try to hold the other Wolves at bay. Chunk swings, and the block's poor, he trips and almost squashes Marcus Sturmfist! M: Azzen's got glory on the brain, he can see the ball and he doesn't care how many Allstars are between him and it! OUCH! He should have! A stray arm brings him down, and that ball's easy pickings for the Allstars now! J: That's right Mike, and on the field another Mike is looking to capitalise! He's got the ball, and the break's underway! He's almost to the halfway line now! The Allstars help them as best they can, holding the Wolves at bay as he makes his run, it looks like enough! M: Yes, the Wolves struggling to mobilise men to catch Mike, Jann Neuvolk trying to dodge out of his fight to go get him, he's almost there... and he comes up like his brother Azzen, eating dirt! The Wolves fans can only groan as they see another touchdown in the offing! J: Yes, Mike is continuing his run down the flank, the Allstars engaged in a brawl with the Wolves, no-one's going to reach him in time! M: The Wolves know it, they're trying damage limitation right now, laying into the Allstars with a purpose, they're knocking them down as fast as the Allstars can get back up, but nothing permanent! The way is clear for the Altdorf Allstars to take the lead! J: Mike buying his team as much time as he can, and catching his breath. A few Wolves hit the dirt, and that's his signal! He's off for the touchline, he's almost there, TOUCH--HUH? What the heck is he doing? Mike is running down the touchline, he isn't scoring! M: The Wolves don't know what to make of this, but Coach Mephy's not happy! He's seeing his chance to get a late equaliser slip away, and all the Wolves can do is keep swinging! J: The Allstars are none the wiser Mike, Head Coach Karlien is scratching his head and gesturing for Mike to hurry up and score, but Mike's looking a bit confused down there! The Allstars falling back as their attack falls short, Mike may run out of time soon! M: We're in the dying minutes here folks, and this is surreal! We've seen stalling before, but this doesn't look like it! The Wolves can't do anything though, they're just picking apart what Allstars they can! J: The Allstars are falling back into a box of their own now, and not through choice Mike! Coach Karlien is looking pretty worried now, he's adding a few choice words to those gestures! Chunk's on his feet, but not many other Allstars are! Mike's looking focused though, here comes the touchdown! WHAT ON EARTH? Catcher Mike is actually running BACK TOWARDS THE HALF WAY LINE! Now he's bringing his arm back, but he couldn't be attempting a pass could he? The only Allstar able to receive is Chunk! But he does! It's long, it's very long, and.... IT'S GOOD?!? Chunk can only look on in surprise as the ball sails toward him, and holding a Wolf back gets a hand on it! 3! 2! 1! THAT'S IT, IT'S OVER! *FEEEEEEEEP* "And that's full time here at the Altdorf Megaplex, the game ends a surreal draw at 1-1 apiece! And what do you make of THAT, Mike?" "Well Joel, I'm not entirely sure what my namesake was thinking down there, but I have an idea! Remember when he got knocked out earlier? He may have been feeling the effects of that! Needless to say, I'm off to find out! "We'll get back to you when you're ready Mike, and time for a game summary!" "The game started very evenly, both sides vying for control with the Altdorf Allstars grabbing an early lead with a bit of luck and a nice example of capitalising on an oversight. Adapting their play slightly, the Talabheim Wolves were able to counter-attack thanks to some superb on-the-fly thinking by Coach Mephy and the efforts of Kalle Obhenall and Vollen Einhart, allowing the Wolves to grab an equaliser!" "The second half started interestingly, with a new play by Coach Mephy that gave the Allstars some trouble. A bit of poor luck later, and Vollen was on the turf, out of the game. Their poor luck continued though, and the Wolves were almost able to capitalise on the mistake of Handy Andy, but the pass of Kalle Obhenall was just too hard to make, and Azzen Neuvolk was unable to catch and jump over the line. The Allstars had a very good chance to counter-attack and score one themselves, but a bizarre ten minutes later the game was over, Mike confusing us all by NOT scoring, and then PASSING the ball! But we got our money's worth with the rare sight of an Ogre catching a pass surrounded by FOUR rival players! He'll be getting a extra meal for that, I'd say!" "Well, that's the game in short, and we can go to Mike with... erm... Mike, down at the Allstars dugout! Mike?" ------------------------------------------------------------------------ "Yes, I can hear you Joel, and I'm with here of Mike of the Allstars. Mike, what were you thinking? I mean, you had a chance to give the Allstars the game and you didn't!" "Emmm... I'm not really sure, Mikhael. I remember getting the ball in our half, I remember starting my run... but then... it all gets a little fuzzy. Man, my head hurts. You said I could have won the game? You mean I wasn't in my own half when I passed the ball to Chunk? I thought he was able to score, so I passed it!" "Sorry Mike, in fact, you were feet from the Wolves' touchline! Chunk was deep in YOUR half, surrounded by Wolves players!" "Really? Damn! Aghhh... where's that Apothecary, my head won't stop ringing. Think I'll go for a drink, see you in the Roaming Palaver's Tavern Mitch!" "Rrr-right! See you around Mike!" *Pats him on the back and walks back to the the Commentators' Box.* "At least, I hope I'll see you around..." ------------------------------------------------------------------------ "Thanks for that Mike, he still seemed a little out of it." "True Joel, I hope some of his teammates follow him out on the town tonight, he may need it!" "Before we go off the Winds though Mike, I believe we've got time for an update on the two Wolves players currently out of action, Dannes Neuvolk and Sirikan Velin. Why not talk us through it, Mike?" "Thank you Joel. Dannes Neuvolk was put under by a Serious Concussion last match, but I was able to see him before we left for here, and he was perfectly fine, the Doc tells me that he'll be back for the next Wolves game for definite. Our other bed-ridden player is Sirikan Velin, as I'm sure all our fans know. His condition has stabilised, he's breathing normally and his wounds are closing, but he's still comatose, I'm afraid. Coach Mephy's trying to keep a optimistic face, but it must be hard!" "Grim stuff, Mike, grim stuff! Well, I'm afraid that wraps it up for today's game, the fans are leaving the stadium, the teams are getting ready for a night on the town, and we may just join them!
