Now known as “Grandad” McCragg and long missing his days of popularity and glory, retired star black orc Fragg took his menagerie of offspring from his Highland tribe with the intention of creating a bloodbowl team majorly populated with the bulk and brawn of his own black orc kin. Most laughed at his idea (behind his back, of course, it’s rather foolish to laugh at a man with an entourage of six eight foot tall axe-wielding pyschopaths) until McCragg gained an audience with King Kartha, the Regent of Rottspitte, and orc warren constructed in a hollowed out volcano and a land of oppressive smoke, soot and sulphur. King Kartha had his own ideas on a team, but quested for the glory that a successful (and feared) blood bowl side would bring his legend and legacy, and agreed with McCragg to create the team.
The team was initially created out of Kartha’s overcrowded prison cells, in what Kartha believed was a very advanced method of economic management. Fewer prisoners meant a lower cost to the crown. This tactic backfired, as the champion of the criminal try outs was Nerf Girder, a troll who had kept the costs of the prisons down for years by eating the excess of inmates. The prisoners combined with the McCragg kin black orc blockers and blitzers, and was fleshed out with a few expendible and annoying goblins.
The populace of Rottspitte weren’t so easily won over, and still refused to acknowledge McCraggs team as a “home side.”
The caverns of Rottspitte were sculpted, hacked, and generally beaten into a pitch, stand and training ground and the McCraggs taught the Orcs the finer points of bloodbowl; including distinguishing between the uniforms and race of the other team before pounding them into oblivion, and the reason that most other teams will gang up on you if you’ve got the ball, but pretty much ignore you while you eat their best friend if you don’t.
Orcs learn slowly, and kings have little patience. So it was a long time before they were ready when Kartha entered the team into the Brutal Bloodbowl League.
