Zharrduk Zebras
Retired [B] Chaos Dwarf

Background
The Zharrduk Zebras were famous throughout the plains for their huge and imposing Zebra-Bull known as Billy Club. In reality, however, it is the refined gentledwarfs that form the centre of the Zebras' outfit.

Their distinctive strip (and the diminutive slave hobgoblins' ridiculous felt costumes) might ensure, at least, that whitebox teams these Dwarfs come up against get momentarily distracted.

Where they come from they were heroes, but in the B division they are just one of many. It will take more than outlandish uniforms to turn heads here.

The Zebras will be contracted by the blackbox management to take part in ten-game tours. The tours are named after precious stones Chaos Dwarves slaves are known to mine for. Reviews of each ten-game tour can be found below.

Summary: The Zebras launch their inaugural tour in the southern Duchies of Brettonia. They visit Aquitaine, Brionne and Carcassonne and play for Duke Theodoric of Brionne, house Massonne, Baron Leuthere, Aiden the Brave, Duke Huebald and others in their first ten games.
Memorable moments:
  • Their debut. A 3-0 win over a rival Chaos Dwarf outfit. Balstaff the Bad causes two casualties and Rick Wrathful nets himself a brace of touchdowns.
  • Carnage. A 1-0 win over a smack-talking adversarial coach where the Zebras manage 5 casualties including a broken neck (-1ag), smashed knee (ni) and a fractured leg (mng). The broken neck injury is dealt out to a snow troll by Billy Club (his first of two SI casulties during the game); the smashed knee niggling injury goes out to an experienced runner from a questionably late Grimsol Blackstripe foul (lol).
  • Brutality. A 1-0 win, played the day after the Norse game in the same stadium, where two Zebra Chaos Dwarves receive MNG injuries and Buff Rowdy Pridestomp the hobgoblin damages his back on his debut. In return we smash a Chaos Dwarf blocker's hip for -1MA and MNG two other blockers.
  • Frogs beat us 1-0 and break Billy Club's ribs putting him out of action for a game and forcing the signing of a second Bull Centaur Black Jack.
  • A 1-0 victory over Dwarves where we fracture a Dwarf Troll Slayer's skull for -1 AV.
  • An emphatic 3-1 victory over Wood Elves where block hobgoblin Rick Wrathful suffers a career-ending smashed ankle (-1MA). In return we niggle a merc lineman and Balstaff the Bad kills a star Wardancer - the highest profile set piece in the Zebra's short history. Notably, the blocker brought down the dodge Wardancer with tackle and initially the result was a fractured skull. The apothecary's intervention served only to kill him, but the coach accepted the result because he'd 'prefer the guy dead than injured'. Likeaboss. The Wardancer in question was the same elf who had earlier ended Rick Wrathful's career.
  • A tense 1-0 victory over a Necromantic franchise, marred by blizzard conditions, led to the retirement of mighty blow blocker Zhalstar Chompy after sustaining a serious concussion in a block.
  • At the end of the tour, after a heavily delayed start, the Zebras shamefully concede just before the half time whistle in this game after a ruthless ClawPOMBing Pact team threaten to destroy them. In reward, Jemjul Jarhoof, who seriously injured (-1MA) a player before the walkoff, skills up and gets Claw. He learnt from the enemy and will hopefully fight fire with fire.

Games 11-20: Topaz Tour Review
Summary: The Zebras launch their second tour in the western Duchies of Brettonia. They visit Bordeleaux, Mousillon, Martel, Naizon, Chatlon and Merton.
Memorable moments:
  • Szarin the Crazed is killed in this game; it is the Zebras third successive 1-0 defeat. Coach Stonefist could have apo'd the blocker but he opts not to. He cites Szarin's solitary casulty from 50 blocks and warns the other Zebras that a similar fate awaits them if their form doesn't improve.
  • The Zebras record their first draw in this game, which finished 1-1. It ends their three game losing streak, but they remain 4 games without a win.
  • The Zebras losing streak ends with a concession in this game. It's one we'd rather not talk about.
