Owner: Lietpold the Black Head Coach: Gorbag ‘The Half-Man’ Doomspider Home Stadium: The Ravens Nest, Burkesburg Team Colours: Yellow, Blue & Brown Burkesburg Footpad Club Lietpold the Black, merciless Warlord and Ruler of the grim stronghold of Burkesburg saw what was happening in sports. With the rise of big leagues like CIBBL and BIBBL Lietpold wanted to get his share of the lucrative Blood Bowl market. The easy earnings of low-grade merchandise, dodgy sponsorships and rigged bettings couldn’t be ignored any longer. Watching how teams from paltry regions like Tilea, Estalia and even the remote Myrmidens were generating competitive squads this was a no-brainer. Recruitment of players from all over the Border Princes quickly showed Lietpold that the best suited subjects were to be found among the many bandit outfits roaming the Borderlands. Silk Road highwaymen, sneaky footpads, brutal robbers, common thugs and dissidents from all over the Old World - of which there is an abundance in the Border Principalities anyway - made out the core of his team. And with dirty and attractive tactics like stabbing, eye gouging, strangling and kneecapping this rag-tag squad of goons soon rose to fame. If not for their results then for the quality of entertainment. Burkesburgs 1st Footpad Club was born. Merchandise sales and profits from betting skyrocketed and soon Lietpold (almost) withdrew from common thuggery to become a full-blooded Blood Bowl team owner. ————— Excerpt from ‘The Burkesburg Bulletin’ ————— ...the Awful Autumn of 04 finally ended on a high note when Hall of Broken Dreams were broken (!) in a glorious showing of BFC’s hit-and-run tactics. Kutter finished the season in style and the two teams look forward to their next clash in the upcoming Winter season. Seasons Awards & Prestige: After spring 2604 > 11 Prestige Points After summer 2604 > 15 Prestige Points Year 2604 Friendlies, Winter, W/D/L - 0/1/2 Game 1: vs. Hall of Broken Dreams, 0-1 loss Game 2: vs. Cripple Peak Warpgrinders, 1-2 loss Game 3: vs. Drakwold Devils, 1-1 draw Recap: A short intense winter season saw the BFC growing a couple more of them chesthairs. ‘7-Fingers’ mutilated two beastmen in the 1st game but the offensive game was non-existent. 2nd game saw a brilliant TD by the duo Snaphance/Kutter but the Clans arsenal of bombs and evil machinery dampened BFCs attacking potential and the quick rats won it. 3rd game vs. more beastmen was tough and bloody with the 1st dead player of the team when Rico Cannibalo was maimed by a Bestigor. Kutter was flying second game in a row with both incredible stabbing shenanigans and a superior equalizing TD. Tournament MVP: Kutter Regionals, Spring, W/D/L - 2/1/1 - 3rd place (out of 5) Prestige points: 11 (10 + 1 Achievement Point) Game 1: vs. Bilbali Blackhearts, 2-2 draw Game 2: vs. Bordeleaux Golden Bastilion, 1-2 loss Game 3: vs. Ursunite Fellowship, 2-1 win Game 4: vs. Illios Praetorians, 2-1 win Recap: 1st spring regionals was a good run of games. Starting out vs. the Blackhearts which looked like a tough fixture. But 'The Rat' Mutts scored 2 TD's to get the draw. Then BFC faced the strongest team of the group and after a close match the Brets won it. The Kislevites proved to be more lenient and '7-fingers' got his 2nd '2 CAS in a game' with Snaphance as double TD-scorer. A welcome win. Then the stoic myrmidians showed up with a deep urge to redeem themselves after a terrible season. They almost secured the draw but Mutts and Münster got it done in the dying moments of the game and BFC ended the season with a 2-1 win - one TD short of conquering the 2nd spot of the group. Tournament MVP: Gordie Snaphance Lunar Embrace, Summer, W/D/L - 1/1/3 - 11th place (out of 12) Prestige points: 4 Game 1: vs. Bilbali Blackhearts, 0-1 loss Game 2: vs. Plague of the Horned Rat, 2-1 win Game 3: vs. Ruinous Thunderfangs, 0-2 loss Game 4: vs. Barak Varr Ironbreakers, 0-2 loss Game 5: vs. Wasteland Chain Gang, 1-1 draw Recap: Game 1 vs. regional rivals Blackhearts and this time the Estalians came out on top. Only new Rogue ‘Shiv’ Pagan put up a good fight with two late stab-injuries. Ignited by this bitter defeat the 2nd game thankfully became an effective showing of good attacking tactics. A good match by Grigoz H’Ayat with brutal fouling game and the BFC got their first summer win. Next game was tough. The Kurgans didn’t give them much room and BFC had a poor game losing 2 to nothing. After that they faced dwarfs. Dwarfs... A very bad game. ‘7-fingers’ was killed by a journeyman dwarf (and luckily saved by the doc) and Snaphance injured himself tripping over his own feet. He was out in the last game vs. sneaky, stabby hobgoblin slavers and their blodgy black orcs. 1st half was the best showing of the BFC this season. Very good defending and a good defensive TD by 'Kutter'. 2nd half was horrific and Mutts was left alone to fend off 2 black orcs due to a major tactical error - he didn't succeed. A stalemate 1-1 game. But Shiv Pagan really knows how to stab hobgoblins! Tournament MVP: Shiv Pagan Tin Division, Autumn, W/D/L - 1/0/5 - 7th place (out of 7) Prestige points: - Game 1: vs. We Be BIg!, 0-2 loss Game 2: vs. Ruinous Thunderfangs, 1-2 loss Game 3: vs. Deep Desire, 0-2 loss Game 4: vs. Cripple Peak Warpgrinders, 0-2 loss Game 5: vs. Followers of the Red Lightning, 0-2 loss Game 6: vs. Hall of Broken Dreams, 2-0 win Recap: 1st game was in the rain vs. very tough orcs and gobbos. A poor showing and the humiliation was completed when a Big ‘Un danced through the impotent BFC defense to make it 2-0. Then Kurgans. BFC made them work for the victory and the Thunderfangs were lucky to get the win. After that came two more very bad games. The Slaanesh even forced a broken Snaphance to retire and his replacement was injured severely and retired by an apathetic Coach Gorbag after another defeat vs. the Warpgrinders. The dark times continued vs. the Hung. No dodges worked and 'The Rat' barely made it through the game alive. Thanks 'Stitch'... Then a brutal chaotic team arrived at The Ravens Nest. Surely this should be another defeat. '7-Fingers' was out and the mood was bitter. But the BFC fans summoned the Spirit of Spring and the team was victorious! At last a win with Kutter as stone cold conducter stabbing a warrior for a CAS and scoring the winning TD. Tournament MVP: Kutter Year 2605 Friendlies, Winter 05, W/D/L - 0/0/1 Game 1: vs. Hall of Broken Dreams, 0-3 loss Recap: A vengeful Broken Dreams arrived at the Ravens Nest for a ‘friendly’ rematch after their last skirmish during the Autumn of 04. It didn’t go down well... They utterly destroyed the BFC and it’s time for a bit of rebuilding...
