Freemantle Fletchers

The Town of Freemantle had been without a Bloodbowl team for as long as elves had been playing the sport, however that does not mean it did not have any Blood Bowl history. There is a long history of Players from Freemantle playing in other areas, sometimes with contracts and sometimes as mercenaries. Over the centuries the town became well known for producing some of the best mercenary Elven players in the sport, but there was always the frustration of the lack of a home team and no real backing to form one from the noble class and merchant investors in the city.

That is until recently, when one of the local barons, a mr. Althen Swiftsteel, met with the wood elf ex player For'ren Greenleaf, who had recently retired after a 112 year career as a catcher in order to discuss his plans for a coaching career. The two came to an arrangement, Althen would provide the investors for a new Blood Bowl team to be based in Freemantle and For'ren would find the players he deemed suitable for success.

The team was thus formed, taking its name from the local thriving fletching traditions in the town, the name Freemantle takes a double meaning, being both the name of their home town and relating to the fact that mercenaries from the town were known as "Freemantlers" and thus was a throwback to their illustrious history. The team would find popular support before it's season, fans who were excited to finally have a home town team support but nervous as to whether or not they would live up to the hype.
