Tomb Guardians
The other side that I am tempted to make a run with (perpetual league) is Khemri. Clearly I am craving some st5, and these don't have a negatrait. Except Decay I guess, which is pretty dreadful.

So how to build them? Well I am obsessed with the idea of mass Grab. I just think it would suit them so well. Plus the obvious one of Mighty Blow and Stand Firm, you can set up some nice chain pushes and try to get some out of the sidelines. I think I would have a blitz-ra getting around with Frenzy and Stand Firm (maybe Juggernaut too) that he could use to hit anyone that gets too close to the sideline.

Piling On I guess is good as Khemri aren't winning much unless they outnumber the opposition. Still, you'd be dying for doubles, Block is the obvious first pick. As much as I want to say Tackle or Diving Tackle next, I just think it has to be Dodge, due to
a) How hard they are to skill
b) Decay.

So there is my next theory, a Grab-Heavy Khemri side. I know the prevailing wisdom is that Break Tackle makes them mobile, but I'm convinced playing their weakness is not the best idea, I figure just try to get as much blocks as possible, whilst tying up their players as much as I can. If you had 4 TG with Grab, if your opposition is st3, you can likely tie up 2 per TG, so its a 7 vs 3 game. Easy!

Ha.

Khemri.

I think the problem with Grab-heavy is that you have guard and MB clamouring for first pick. MB, because skilling TG's is almost entirely reliant on cas. Guard, because then 3db's is much easier to get.

This is, of course, quite apart from the doubles for Block. So what you're potentially looking at is that grab is probably a 4th, maybe even 5th pick. Earlier than that and you're sacrificing BT or SF.

Second double? Probably dodge, unless you're lucky enough to roll two doubles for 3+ TG's, in which case one tackler is probably not a bad idea (especially if you play in a league with multiple st4 (or higher) blodge ball carriers..!)

If you take Grab over Guard? I guess that would be my theory. Maybe for the first and third TG that gets 2 skills.

MB is the obvious first choice.

TGs biggest negatrait is lack of normal skill access. They get obliterated by 1ds and -2ds. SF can prevent that a bit - thats why its ok skill for them if you cannot roll dubles. Grab is an ok skill on 1 (after block and bt - and ofc guard/mb) to clear sstepers off ball when neeeded.
Dubles i would go tackle (on 2nd after block).
As far as skilling go its tought. You need to block, hope for cas and mvps. If there happens possiblity to safely try to score with them - do it. After aquiring mb it gets much better, but still takes mome time.

Grab sucks, try Mighty Blow, Piling On on the Blitz-Ras and on the 4 Tomb Guardians (take Block if you roll a double).
Piling On has the additional effect of protecting your Tomb Guardians from Clawpomb.
If you want a traditional build, then Mighty Blow, Guard, Break Tackle/Stand Firm on Guardians, but it will take longer to skill them up and they will have no defence when facing Clawpomb.

From my personal experience I'd take MB as first skill on first TG and then Guard as first skill on other TGs before other skills. Mb might win some games but Playing Khemri is all about pitch control. You can't do this without guard in my view.

Casualties will come from all the blocking you make when you are dictating the game and grinding up the pitch. Guard is also essential protecting ball carrier against elves and gutter runners. If they get your ball carrier all the Mb or grab in the world won't help compensate for your blanket ag2. Guard does.

I've played Khemri in L, R and briefly in B. There are certainly coaches with more experience, so I'd suggest listening to them. Like you I wanted to see if I could get 3-4 TGs with Grab. I still took MB/Guard first, and Block on doubles, but I have managed to get at least 3 Grab on several teams. And when I did, I wished I'd taken more Stand Firm every time. I think Grab is a better 4th skill if you still haven't rolled a double or a +ST/+MA. And even then, I'd probably only take it on 2 TGs, and Break Tackle on the other 2. Grab can be useful, but I just don't think it's worth taking it en masse. And that's based on my experience playing TGs that did take Grab over Stand Firm and/or Break Tackle. Still, if you want to try it you certainly can. Just be prepared for it to impact the development of the entire team. Frenzy/Juggs on the Blitzers would be a good idea if you choose to take all that Grab so you can take advantage of more crowd surfs.

If you want an idea of what 4 Grab players can be like, spectate/watch replays of Simyin games for ideas. It's a League only team, but there are a fair amount of them floating around on the site, including in the OBBA league (shameless plug). There are some pretty good coaches who have achieved some success with them.

I would 2nd Roland in that the definitive TG skill guides are written by bigGuy, he must have played more Khemri matches than anyone in the Box.
