Chaos Cup (3th) and Spike! (1th)
My little North America tabletop adventure is soon coming to an end, but I had two brilliant tournaments - first Chaos Cup in Chicago and then Spike! in Vancouver (2 out of 5 Blood Bowl tabletop majors). And after winning the NAFC I really hoped to do well over here and I did not disappoint myself.
The trip did end with a 3th place (2th best record) at Chaos Cup and a 1th place at the Spike! (With the same record and TD score as in the NAFC)
Chaos Cup
I did play with a rather cheesy Amazon roster here (it was 1,1 mio and you buy the skills within those money):
4 Blitzer (Guardx2, Frenzy and Sure Hands)
8 Line (Wrestlex2, Blockx2 and Leader)
2 RR
1 Apo
I was really closing going into the final but we was two at 4/1/0 (and one at 5/0/0) and I just missed it due to my tiebreaker (strength of scheduled). I did win my last game so got 5/1/0 and a 3th place (2th best record).
My games was:
2-0 against Orcs
0-0 against Amazons
2-0 against Orcs
1-0 against Orcs
4-0 against Chaos
1-0 against Undead
5/1/0 - TD: 10-0

Spike!
I played in the Spike! with my Darkies and the setup was 1,1 mio and a skill packet (I had 6 skills and max two of each):
3 Blitzer (Dodgex2 and Side Step)
2 Witch (Block and Wrestle)
1 Runner (Leader)
5 Lineelf
2 RR
1 Apo
I manage to go all the way and win my 2th major this year with a 6/0/0 record. So I can't really complain :O)
My games was:
1-0 against Amazons
4-0 against Chaos Dwarfs
3-2 against Orc's
2-1 against Chaos
3-1 against Necromantic
1-0 against Norse
6/0/0 - TD: 14-4 (exactly as in the NAFC)

It is hard to say have big the gap actually is between Europe and NA. But Europe is for sure more competitive in anyway - from the coaches and their mindset to the team choices and team builds.
I don't think the gap is so big (but their is for sure a gap) when you take the best coaches, but NA just got fewer of them. But my felling is that NA players pick teams (and builds) more by hart than "what will give them the best odds to win" - we had 7 humans out of 52 players here at Spike!
I did find the lesser competitive style making the atmosphere and "mood" of those tournaments more enjoyable than at something like NAFC. Everybody just seemed to have such a good time playing :O)
It have been a crazy good trip :D

Congrats KF! I wish we could have played at the Spike but it was not meant to be as I only climbed to 6th after a bad game on the first day. You tore through Thunderbowl's 2 best coaches in your final 2 games and despite an obvious gap, that is something to be proud of from our end in Vancouver Canada. Well played!
