DLE: Wreckers season 5 pre season training camp day 2 (And conclusion)
Day 2 of pre season training and with the deadline for roster submission there was some last minute drills to decide on who would make the cut and who would be getting cut.

The linemen proved their worth yesterday and today the focus is more on the throwers.

Passing Drills

Today Dysert and Nassib hit the pitch to try out some passing drills. Both are competent passers with Nassib being a bit more accurate with the quick passes while Dysert has a strong arm. This makes it very difficult for the coach to choose as both are very very similar players and the coach has the tough decision of deciding who makes it and who leaves the camp without a contract.

Conclusion

Coach Hoodless sits there and contemplates his options.
With his linemen he has Turner, a former Wrecker who is able to guard and block, but who's body is failing him. And then he has Fragel, not the sharpest of knives but who stands his ground and has a head like a rock.
With his throwers he has Dysert, a 3rd round draft with good dodging abilities and a strong arm, and Nassib who is as agile as Dysert but slightly more accurate with his passes than Dysert.

The coach sighs. His decision is made. He calls the players in one be one starting with Nassib.

CH: Come in Nassib.
RN: Hey coach. Thanks for giving me the opportunity by drafting me. I was worried I might go undrafted.
CH: Not a problem, I cant believe a player of your talent didn't get drafted before the last pick.
RN: So...... Coach, have I made the cut?
CH: *sigh* Im sorry son. I wish I had enough room for both you and Dysert. No doubt you are the better player right now the coaching staff feel your long term development will hinder you. I wish we could've found a team for you a player of your calibre you deserve to be playing. Good throwers are hard to come by and most seasons you would make the team. We will compensate you for the training day and pay your pre contract agreement. This should give you enough to get by for a while. All the best son.

Nassib felt dejected but understood. The pre contract payment was pretty generous and rumour has it Nassib has made a sports bar with crystal balls and cabalvision on every table and is adorned with DLE team shirts and helmets.

Dysert then enters the coaches office

CH: Have a seat Dysert
ZD: Hi coach.
CH: Well, no point delaying the inevitable. Son, you got the place.
ZD: Wow! Thanks coach. Honestly i was a bit worried when you drafted Nassib. On the pitch i was sure he had me beat.
CH: Im not going to lie. He was better on the pitch than you
ZD: Ok..... so why did you pick me then?
CH: The coaching staff see great potential in you lad. Potential that would see you surpass Nassib. Your job now is to reward that faith
ZD: I will coach! I'll work really hard to prove I was worth picking.
CH: Good, now go see the secretary and get your first payment. Im pretty sure your going to want to celebrate. Be warned after tonight there is a long season ahead so enjoy it then make sure you have your head ready for the first game. Congratulations.

After Dysert left Fragel was the next one in.

RF: Urrrr hi coach
CH: Fragel, have a seat
RF: So........ did i do good?
CH: Yes Fragel you did good. Good enough to earn yourself a spot on the team
RF: So that means im a Wreckers player now?
CH: Yes Fragel...... Your a Wreckers player now.
RF: Goodie! I look forward to being a..... what was it again?
CH: Lineman Fragel, specifically a line of scrimmage lineman.
RF: Sepifically?
CH: You stand there and get hit. Then you get back up.
RF: Oohhhhhhh *knocks head* nothing knocking me out.
CH: Good. Now on your way Fragel.

Fragel leaves and that just leaves Trai Turner.

CH: Come in Turner
TT: Good to see you again coach
CH: You too Turner. I'll be honest im astonished im still looking across the table at you after leaving us 3 seasons ago.
TT: It was a rough injury I took in that first season and I understand why you traded me out. Saying that I feel I haven't done badly to play 4 seasons.
CH: You dont expect to play a fifth?
TT: The big lump before me came out beaming from ear to ear. It's pretty obvious what the outcome is. And in all honesty i dont see my body taking another season on the line. I'm ready to call it time.
CH: You've had a good run Turner. And to be honest I wanted you to come back home before you retired. It's been a pleasure to watch you on the pitch the last couple of days. Really rolled back the years.
TT: It was good to see all the coaching staff and Van Hoosengold, Clowney and Legeux. Not many of us first season players left. I saw the picture of Hoffnung on the wall in the hallway. Really wish he could've been here.
CH: Dont we all. A massive loss. Anyway I don't want you going anywhere too soon. Go speak to the secretary and don't talk to anyone. I'll see you at the seasons start.
TT: Urrrr ok then. Well nice to see you coach.

And with that it is done. The team is selected. Coach Hoodless signs off the final papers and sends them through to the DLE HQ for verification. Wreckers are now set for season 5.

This was the best part of the sequel. Hard blocks, it is. :)
