I have just rediscovered an old hobbie ! Fishing. it had been 18 years since i last went fishing, but over the last few weekends, my son and i have been going fishing. and just wow its been great. the first couple of times my son just liked to net the fish i hooked, after a while i coaxed him into using his own rod, Now we are both hooked !(pardon the pun)

my son now casts his float and hooks his own bait, his first fish caught was a tench weighing just under a pound 12 oz ish but then he hook a small carp weighing 2 pounds. We now get away when ever we can and the bonding between us has grown hugely after spending hour after hours just chatting about anything !

It brings back memories from when i used to go fishing with my father,those days were just great.

i have never been a serious fisherman and would often be happy with catching lots of small fish and last weekend my son and i tried a lake with some larger fish in it. my son caught lots of small perch and hooked a carp which unfortunately got away , but not before staying on the line for a good 5 minutes. this bought huge excitement to him and at 7 years old he was making lots of noise to the amusement of the other anglers around the lake ;-).

i later hook a good sized tench (6lb's 2 oz) and then caught my biggest ever fish, a mirror carp weighing 13 lb's. we were both using 3 pound line and small size 18 hooks, next time we good i think we willl use heavier tackle.

The best thing about this refound old hobbie is the time i spend with my son and the bonding that comes with it, the actual fish caught are just an added bonus. To any fathers out there i recomend This great hobbie for you and your offspring its a really great way to be with your child... its certainly worked for me ;-D
