concession
hmm its been 2611 games since I last conceded. on the 9th of December 2007. http://fumbbl.com/FUMBBL.php?page=match&id=1960007

its coming up to 6 years since this match and I hope to never concede again.

I don't remember why I wussed out of that game.

I don't totally disagree with concessions but imo if you agreed to play a game then u should finish it especially in ranked or box and always in tournies. conceding in tournies is the lowest form of conceding, as it gives the team u conceded to an advantage for there next rounds which is unfair on the other coaches who have battled their way to the next stage.

I see conceding in leauges to preserve your team to be able to compete in other matches just about ok. but I still disagree with that for almost the same reasons as conceding in tournies.

Instead of conceding I would say its better to at least try and do something in the game that is going badly for u. either try to make the other coach at least know he has been in a game by trying to hurt something or score a td with some miracle dice.

not giving up can sometimes produce the unexpected. either an unlikely draw or an impossible win, and even better at least maim one of the opposition players and leave a scar on their team ;-D

personally I would rather fight my way to defeat and watch as many of my pixels get killed than just chuck in the towel.

rebuilding teams is part of the fun to be had on this site and nothing lives for ever or should live for ever !

No one ever concedes against me. :(

Btw: The last 3 concessions against you were from rookies, just saying :D

coaches who don't know any better :-)

30 games per match page 87 th page hen done the math ;-D

Uh oh, if Piggy is doing Maths than the world is doomed ...

.... doooooooomed I tell you >.<

I have conceded exactly once. I was losing a game (Badly) no hope of winning and the team was going to be retired. However, the reason for the concession was they were starting a Speed Smack and if I wanted in, then it had to be there and then. So, I conceded, retired the team, joined the Smack and won it :-P

First and only time I have or will ever concede.

Foul with your best players and hope you roll doubles!

I think concessions are OK with rookie or rookie-ish teams that are getting wiped off the field to retirement in a dicing. I don't see why you should feel obliged to sit around for 40 minutes essentially clicking turn if they're going to get retired anyway. I don't get doing it with 'real' teams, however, but I'd not attach any stigma to it.

But that's my view. I don't get being mad with others for doing stuff within the rules. It's just like Blackbox heroes doing their minmaxy thing. It's legal, but not my thing.

I joined a league right before I got a job that made it impossible to keep in the league. I agreed to play one game to give the coordinator time to replace me. In the first half, my Undead went down 0-2, lost almost all their positionals, and were to kick in the second half. I had to retire the team, and they couldn't play BB, really, so I conceded. That's the only time.

agreedish prplegoo. but I feel uncomfortable with it still. there is an exception to any rule imo, but we have all had bad dice games and also wonder dice games. I say take the rough with the smooth. if u are the coach who actually has the dice and can create a chance to skill up or build your team more then the concession can prevent that. but as u say vs a min max team with a knob of a coach practically cheating imo then sometimes I can see that a consession is actually ok ;-D

if you play your first match with a team againast this http://fumbbl.com/p/team?op=view&team_id=716934 i personally think it's ok to concede. where is the fun in this sort of games?
Posted by PigStar-69 on 2013-10-20 18:14:27
that sorta team djutog is sick but I would still rather try to kill one of its lame players
Posted by Chainsaw on 2013-10-20 20:24:18
I've conceded a few times. Surely it's a part of the game.

I agree that conceding in tournaments is just plain bad. (And I did that once; regretted it.)

So, to be clear Pigstar, you HAVE TO leave, are loosing big and there is a couple of turns left, and you choose to tie up your team and your opponents team for a few days instead of conceding?
Posted by PigStar-69 on 2013-10-20 21:24:42
exception to every rule c312 my blog is ageneral point that concessions can be really lame. you are being a lil extreme.

I've heard that 50% of public matchmaking games on Cyanide end in either concession or disconnection. :)

CONCESSION!
Posted by pythrr on 2013-10-21 08:16:43
I HAVE CONCEDED A few times (gah, goblins with the caps!), but they have usually been when I am playing someone is a complete dick and just can't be bothered. I don't do it often, but sometimes one just thinks, "oh god, doing the washing up is preferable to this..."

Posted by Royston on 2013-10-21 10:46:03
I have conceded just the once due to a childcare emergency. I think it was projectile vomiting.

Well this is interesting. I have been on the bad side of a one sided loss way to many times. But is always interesting how my opponent reacts to it.

So he has 11 guys you have 5 guys left. It is middle of the second half, 4 or 5 turns left and he is stalling on your endline.

Concession is out because that is lame. So you are left with 3 options.

1)Stand all your guys up, roll a butt load of dice and hope something good happens. Usually you are just trying to produce a CAS to feel good. Your opponent usually gets upset when you start laying fouls trying maim and kill. It is almost like you are performing 4 T16 fouls on him.

2)Only stand up one or two players who can actually perform and action. Run away or somesuch. He then gets made because you are not letting him hit your key guys.

3)Just lay down and wave at him on the endline and tell him good game. The theory that only bad things can happen to your pixels if you stand up theory comes into play. He gets mad because you are robbing him of the chance to clear the pitch and double down on the CAS SPP.

I have always found that the grey area in the rules about competitive matches and so forth when it comes down to the end of a lopsided match very interesting. So coaches will scream and yell that laying down the last 3-4 turns of a out of balance match is wrong and so forth.

Trying to kill the other teams pixels in a one sided match is bad sportsmanship and so forth.

It is just humorous to me that the in one sided matches it always seems the coach on the winning side gets his panties in a wad because he wants to get more SPP and inflict some serious pain on the underdog and the underdog does not want to concede but just get off the field with his pixels in tact.

That causes all kinds of argument and heated debates.
