SESSION SIX (still "lame duck")
I posted a comment in my last blog entry and thought I would create a new entry and repost the questions.

So how does FUMBBL & the FUMBBL community look at:

1) Fouling? Some people joke about it - like they do it all the time, where other areas I've read make it sound like an actual 'foul!' and that players frown upon it. What's the over-all opinion? What's YOUR opinion (if it differs)?

2) Coaches playing each other multiple times - sometimes multiple consecutive games? I understand the whole 'cheating' thing by creating two accounts and playing yourself over and over - but what about two different (legitimate) coaches?

3) What happens if you have more than one person in the household (so same IP address) that want to play at FUMBBL? Should they just avoid playing each other? If they're allowed to play each other - what is considered non-exploit frequency (like once a week, once a month, once a year, etc.)?

On playing the same coach in consecutive games, I've occasionally not had the choice (I could have not played at all, but lets be serious). I typically look for games weeknights after 7, eastern standard time. It's a skeleton crew with all the euros in bed. I always play to win (mostly fail), and I don't actually know any other coaches personally, so I don't see the problem (though I can certainly see the potential for, or appearance of a problem).

1) Attitude to fouling completely depends on the coach, most will be fine with it if you do it to win the game and some will be happy if you foul every turn. Other people get really stroppy and will try to pay you back, which can be a good way to win if you don't care about your team.

2) You should aim to play another coach no more than 1 in 10 games and can't play the same teams back to back in [R]. In [L] you can play solely against one coach if you like, just so long as they are real games so no just standing up rookie flings for 16 turns vs dorfs.

3) Speak to the admins, i know this has come up in the past as people have kids, flatmates or partners. They'll tell you how to go about things.

Questions 2 & 3...

It's best to confirm any out of the ordinary actions with the admins. As the other coaches below have written, sometimes playing the same coach regularly is unavoidable.

Question 1...

:) Best to develop your own fouling policy, and let others play as they will. Some coaches are total foul monsters (me) whereas others go into foulrage when 1 boot is thrown! I try to keep in mind that for every tactical choice, there's a counter tactic. Better that than crying about another coaches playstyle!

Check also out this mini-series, where some coaches reflect on the subject : http://fumbbl.com/help:PlorgOnFouling

To see the other coaches, look for links at the bottom.

Thanks for the link, avien! I read all of them regarding fouling and... I guess I'll just do it occasionally?

Thanks for the comments, Calcium, spubbbba, and Randy_Moss.

Hehe discussing fouling before even playing a game, you'll fit right in here! :D

I see your Dorks got their first game in, was it fun? Hope so! Can be mighty confusing for the first game or two though as you seem to have done your research it hopefully wasn't quite as bad.

As others have said - foulng varies by coach. I guess 'standard' is to foul at the start of a half and then only foul again if the other team fouls back and/or there is a very high priority target who can get fouled well. As others have said though, some will foul every turn while others will never, ever foul and get quite upset about it.

For playing multiple games vs. other coaches [L] is the best place as others have said. In [R] it shouldn't be more than 1/10 but if you very occasionally play someone twice in a 5 game period or something its not the end of the world, just don't make a habit of it! Also never play the same guy twice in a row in [R] or it just won't uploa the result (I presume the new ruleset will do the same when it goes live...)

For same IP I've no idea... :(

Thanks for the input asharak! I played Macavity last night and fouled him 3 times, one of the players got caught and thrown out. I had a lot of fun, not too frustrating.

Thanks for asking! :D
