Hello,
With the implementation of seasons, you have to re-hire a majority of new players, even if they didn't skill up.
In my league I use a formula depending on the skill-ups, I feel it would be a viable option for both 2016 and 2020 skill-ups and would allow to keep a majority of the team. This would also be a good option for leagues running for a long time, for which it's not possible to manually set up a number of past seasons.
I'll add an image to explain it simply.
Would it be interesting and not too complicated to implement that ? |

It seems to make viable a league with the old skill system (2016) with the newer redraft system. It looks promising indeed. |

Obvious exploit of this is to intentionally not take any skills the last few games of a season and roll into game 1 with a bunch of players with very high SPP. Then you are at a huge advantage for game 2 |

Can already bank SPP in the current system though, as SPP itself has no redraft 'cost' |

Let's take 2 hypothesis :
1- If you go by official rules, this strictly doesn't change any meta around 2020 skilling up. Litteraly 0 impact : people already avoid skilling up in order to pay less. This option will just give more flexibility to league admin on what to take into account.
2- Since it's a non official re-hiring cost, it will more likely interest leagues already twitching a little bit official rules or ready to do it. And nothing prevents a league admin to force skills to be taken before entering the new season.
Please also note this works very well with 2016 and 2020 skilling up, and since the site doesn't allow to manually enter a number of seasons played, this gives a nice alternative (according to me at least ) for long existing leagues. |

I also like that it is a proportion of the original cost (and not a fixed value). So Stat increases are more impacted than skills. It looks good. I guess it's not on high priority right now but I'm interested to see that implemented. |

You are not allowed to skill players before the first game of the season. |

Also, Christer mentioned it a couple times that he wants FUMBBL to be a reference implementation of the Blood Bowl ruleset. So I don't think such homebrew things will make it to the site. There are more important things on the todo list.
Like the Unreal Engine 5 migration. :^) |
